Hln is trash but i somehow sometimes also find myself browsing it. Then i notice shit like this.
Don’t have the time. A serious article takes an entire day to research, write and make pics for. Most journalists need to make at least 3 articles a day and make these sorts of articles on the side. Author probably deepl’d this article and moved on.
People like to complain about the shittier quality of the average article, but the simple truth is that journalism is a dying industry. Fewer journalists on shittier types of contracts (independents) have to fill more and more webpages to keep making the same amounts of money. At some point quality becomes less important than quantity. Guess where we are on this spectrum…
Don’t expect it to get better. More and more journalists work in marketing, customer service, social media roles,… Only the truly passionate journalists still work in journalism, dealing with the shitty work conditions. And much like with the teacher shortage passion can only take you so far.
