Hi,

I just noticed today that you will only get free delivery from amazon.de for order over 99€. The previous threshold was 39€. Is it a new thing or just a temporary raise given the impact of the current strike?

Thank you.

  1. Amazon delivery prices to Finland have significantly raised in the last few days. Last week most of the items I tried to order, only the shipping price was already above 40 euros. Yikes

  2. Its great to see something changing about this supposed “free shipping” although I bet Amazon aren’t doing it out of the goodness in their heart.

  3. Wow that’s an insane increase. Will definitely make me order less stuff if it stays like that. Hopefully just temporary. The strike is a good theory.

  4. Do they have to use different shippers while the AKT strike is in effect?

Would explain why the prices have risen just now…

  5. Wow wtf Amazon. That’s a huge increase.
I just ordered yesterday and it was still 39€.

I’m sure I would order way less now.

  6. Amazon is a business, which are meant to make money from customers. Most likely the cheaper price has been a loss leader to gain a customer base, which can now be exploited. Not that their prices don’t already include shipping costs and more.

  7. What, I just made an order last week and it was 39 still.

I did notice they are using pricey shipping companies for cheap stuff I ordered so they are probably losing money in that.

It might be due to the strike but I could see a permanent raise of the minimum order value for free shipping coming in the near feature.

  8. The thing is, we need a good answer on this. I’ve got an order in my basket, just under €50. Shipping would be about €20 on this, split €10 per shipment.

Would the postal services see any of this, or would Amazon just profit harder for non-free shipped orders? Are they trying to push order values up, or is there another reason?

  9. I normally avoid buying from them as I prefer to support local or smaller businesses but today I happened to check with them some items that I really can’t find here and I saw the same. I thought this had been the case for some time now since I haven’t purchased from there for over a year. Bad timing for me also.

  10. Interesting… ordering from amazon.de almost every day and havn’t had that.

Update: except now I saw it! Omg, need to find an another supplier for everything else than groceries. 😳

  11. It’s because of the current strikes so sellers like amazon have to pay “lakkolisä” when shipping into the country. Will probably become cheaper again once the strikes are over in a week(s) or so

  12. Hopefully it’s because of AKT (and in result of that Posti too now) are in a strike.

If it stays that way it will cut my business with Amazon in half.

  13. But didn’t the “free shipping ” already stealth added the cost to items in checkout?

Everytime it roughly adds like 10 euros or more.

(P.s. I hate it when they send it via UPS)

  14. Amazon is a shitshow nowadays anyway, way too many drop shippers at an inflated price. Plus, they treat their workers like crap. It’s basically only good for books now, everything else you can easily get somewhere else.

Or what are you people using amazon for anyway?
