Examples could be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macanese_cuisine
One famous example is Galinha à portuguesa (Portuguese Chicken) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galinha_à_portuguesa which is like a mild curry chicken, and Galinha à africana (African chicken) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galinha_à_africana
Plus bacalhau is very commonplace. Some other dishes include stir-fried curried crab, minchee https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minchee
Have you guys heard of Macanese cuisine, or have some Asians asking if you know Portuguese dishes “African chicken” or “Portuguese chicken”, and you told them that they don’t exist in Portugal, only to find out they are Macanese dishes?
Thanks!

> Do many Portuguese people know Macanese cuisine,
Generally speaking, no.

I have never been asked on the matter, by asian people or anyone of any provenance, for that matter.
Having said that, upon reading Alice Viera’s «O Caril do Adeus», I did find out about a dessert that is common to (almost) all countries from the former portuguese eastern empire, including Macau.
That’s [bebinca](https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bebinca). I have tried and made both the goan and the macanese ones. I find the macanese one easier to make. They’re both pretty good.
Unfortunately no, but I would love to try all of these dishes, need to find a place.
Sim.
Could you share recipes? I would love to try them.
Unfortunately no. But I once watched a documentary (or a travel show?) about Macau where they ate a pork chop sandwich with bone included. It looked delicious and I would eat that without thinking twice.
Had a great amount of fun eating in Macau when I visited. You can really taste the mixture.
Even though we have Chinese restaurants both from mainland China and Macau/Cantonese the former does an ‘American Chinese restaurant’, cantonese version, of the same food. There’s nearly no real Chinese or Macaense food here.
I know, i had a portuguese girlfriend born in Macau. But, before that i didn’t know anything about that mix cuisine. In Portugal i don’t think there are many restaurants with that cuisine or that people know that much about those dishes. Very interesting, the best ones for me are minchi and arroz de Costeleta no Forno (Cok Tjú Pá Fán) or porkchop rice.
Edit: for traditional Chinese dim sum, in Lisbon i recomend Macau Dim Sum restaurant in Amoreiras, cheap and very good
