  1. Honestly, I suspect all of those authors (Well, not Orwell, as he’s dead) would take this as a badge of honour.

  2. months ago, Putin gave Rowling as an example of how the west treats authors unfairly because they cancel them, and now he’s doing exactly that… you can’t make this sh*t up

  3. >G.Orwell

Immagine writing an attack against dictatorships so good that they are still scared of your book after decades.

    >N.Gaiman, S.King, JK Rowling, J.Abercrombie,

The fuck did they do to Russia? Shit, the only thing three of them have in comon is writing weird sex scenes.

Actually no, the mere presence of sex is probably too much for An unofficial theocracy

  5. Orwell for example i get from the perspective of an authoritarian hellhole.

And Stephen King had been pretty outspoken against russias war in Ukraine.

But Rowling? I dont think the Kremlin dislikes her trans takes, to the contrary.

Is it just because ” wizards” and the increasing big role of the orthodox church in justifying the war as a crusade agaibst satanism?

  6. Next step is to assemble all existing books from those authors and burn them publicly. I’m still missing that one in my Russia goes full nazi bingo.

  7. Sorokin. They’ve banned one of the greatest living Russian authors. Well, that’s nothing new I suppose- he was banned in the Soviet days too.

Day of the Oprichnik is a great work. I read it in English. I got my wife, who is from Moscow, his latest novel, Doktor Garin, for Christmas. I can’t wait until my Russian is fluent enough to read it.

  8. A Russian reading list has been printed. Finally everything a Russian citizen absolutely should read organized into one neat list by Putin himself.
