There is a hurry, these tank deliveries should’ve happened in September. Russian spring offensive is coming, the tanks won’t be ready for that but then there is Ukraine’s counter offensive that they absolutely need it. It is cutting very close even if it happened today: Ukraine forces need to be trained first, first maintenance needs to happen on the field. Abrams won’t be in action until maybe end of the summer, Leopards are a bit easier platform overall but it is still a new system that needs to be integrated. In peace time these things take years.

it’s amazing to me how people still think this is about willingness to support Ukraine or fear of Russia.. it’s obvious Germany didn’t want to deliver tanks for economic reasons and now a deal was agreed upon that Germany is happy with and other allies might not be so enthusiastic about.
