Jeremy Corbyn should be allowed to stand for Labour, says Unite boss

  1. The people labour need to speak to in order to get Into power don’t really find Corbyn palatable.
The damage is done. Time to move on.

Let’s get the Tories out and start taking small steps towards rebuilding the nation.

  2. He is still a Labour member so unless they find a way to strip him of that it is going to be very messy to get someone else in.

  3. Not a chance should he, he is toxic to the Labour brand.

His dumb thoughts on the current Ukraine/ Russia war should disqualify him automatically.

  4. While I would agree, except Corbyn’s most recent interview about the Ukraine war is a disaster. The fact it took constant questioning to get Corbyn to say that Russia’s invasion is wrong and even then, it is a pretty weak condemn, means that as long as the war is ongoing Corbyn is a min for the Tories.

I like his domestic policies, I wanted him as PM back in 2019, but jfc don’t give him the whip.

  5. Jesus move on.

You let Corbyn back in a position of power and all the Daily Heil and pro Conservative media will prattle on about is him.

Keep him out of the picture

  6. I’m more anti-conservative than I am left leaning at the moment. With that said, I think I speak for everyone at this end when I say… for the love of god, please don’t stand, you will do more harm than good.

  7. Keeping this bloke in the party puts a massive target sign on Labour for the Tories and the media.

Dunno about you guys but I would prefer the Conservatives don’t win the next election.

Replies below show exactly why the fuckwit Tories have managed to stay in power for over a decade.

  8. as much as i love corbyn (except his stance on trident) this probably wouldn’t be a good idea. i think losing TWO elections has stained his name too much, unfortunately

  9. Labour under Corbyn was fundamentally about the working class, the concept it was founded on. Starmer is a Tory wearing a red tie. Yes, labour will win if they literally keep sailing in a straight line, and bringing Corbyn back would clearly rock the ship enormously. But how much good is starmer’s labour for the typical labour member when he barely differentiates from the last gaggle of Tories? He literally won’t support strikes, the very people labour is meant to appeal to! People are so obsessed with the war in Ukraine (Don’t any of you dare say I’m a Russia supporter, I’m absolutely not) that some of you don’t care if political leaders make Brits bite the curb so long as they go “RuSsIA BaD” while they do it.

  10. Corbyn did enough damage already. I managed to hold my nose and vote Labour last GE. Had there been a better Liberal candidate here I’d have gone with them. The only reason you’d have Corbyn back is because you want to be a party of perpetual opposition to the Tory government.

  11. Corbyn is an absolute piece of shit and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near Labour ever again. His supporters are as fanatical and delusional as Trump supporters.

  12. you move the political landscape back to the left in small steps, which is what Starmer is trying to do.

The UK public resoundingly rejected Corbyns ideas and politics, as hard as this is for the militant activists to get their heads around.

  13. Any minor chance Corbyn would have had coming back was destroyed as soon as Putin invaded. The pacifist anti-western imperialist card was not the card to play whilst Russia continues to commit genocide

  14. Just because he can, doesn’t mean he should.

Labour have the best chance in a loooong time to win the next general election. Stupid bullshit like this isn’t going to help them, no matter whether you think Corbyn was unfairly treated or not.

  15. The Tory’s upcoming media push against Labour will include:

    1. Force a debate over the expulsion of Corbyn from the party.

“Coward Keir can’t scrape terrorist Corbyn from his leg”. Repeat.

    2. Kick up a fuss about military spending.

I’m sure many of you have already noticed the new media stream fillers about military spending. It’s an easy one to talk about in parliament for the Tories as they are willing to say anything, and an easy one to use to occupy a significant portion of the public consciousness.

    3. As soon as any strike ends, they will claim it to be their own success and will pose as the saviours.

Obvious, really, but it’s going to work.

  16. Jeremy Corbyn is the reason that labour lost the last election why would anyone want him back in the main stream of the party again

  17. I mean, the unite Union has been one of Corbyns biggest backers since, well forever really. Id be more surprised if they didnt tbh. In fact, I’d be less surprised if momentum disagreed.

  18. Fuck me, is as if the left don’t actually want to win any elections. If they are serious about ruling they need to send Corbyn to the glue factory.

  19. If Corbyn was in power today, Ukraine would be a different story. The fact he went on RT saying Ukraine shouldn’t fight is just crazy to me, I’d vote for Satan over that man.

  20. Wow some of these comments are koolaid material.

You’d have thought Corbyn had eaten a baby live on stage with some other of this unhinged vitriol.

And don’t forget it’s clear Corbyn was stitched up by half the Labour PLP, the MSM, the Brexit farce, and the tories.

Let’s be honest here, time and actual evidence has proven the man right on many things which could have been avoided had he not been stitched up.

I like Corbyn but I think he’s a bit too naive on international affairs, but was bang on the money with pretty much everything else.

That said Starmer is gonna win by virtue sheer Tory ineptitude and corruption and while that may please a lot of folks it shows just how little Starmer will do when in power to be appealing or true to Labour policies.

Starmer hasn’t earned this win, he will win because both Labour PLP and Tories decided Corbyn was too much of a risk them as political parties.

    Starmer is SSDD.

  21. Fucking hell.

Labour have one of the best chances at finally getting rid of the Tories. And this dunce wants to bring Corbyn back.
