Why Britain should immediately withdraw from Mauritius’ Chagos Islands

  1. The UK should pull out as quickly as possible. I find the developments around the BIOT very positive. I hope we can take the same steps with other territories. For example, handing over the Cayman Islands to Jamaica, Turks and Caicos to the Bahamas, Anguilla to St. Kitts and Nevis etc.

The overseas territories are an expensive waste. The sooner they can be done away with, the better.

  2. I hope we do pull out cause no other country needs to be pulled down by our bullshit, and the UK is such a shit country that being ruled by us is just embarrassing

  3. The islands in the Caribbean literally chose to remain British territories precisely because they didn’t want to be run from Jamaica…

Anguilla even had to stage a revolution in order to remain British.

  4. This article ignores the one crucial factor the people that actually did live there the Islands should not be given back to Mauritius which would likely keep them as an American base and still fuck over the locals they should be given to the locals for them then themselves to choose what to do next democratically

  5. I am quite sure, that if the UK gave into all these demands, the USA would block it and quite simply take the island for themselves.

It’s an Island that can be used to stage an airforce for the Middle East, Asia, Oceania and Africa – does anyone seriously think the USA would give up this strategic geography for a moralistic reason – nations act on interests not morals.
