  1. Who needs an enemy like Russia when you have the Tories doing their best to run everything into the ground be it the military, the economy, healthcare or other public services? I guess they now recognise there isn’t a snowballs chance in hell they will win the next general election so it’s time to drop all the pretences and ramp up operation smash and grab.

  2. If putin attacks us we’ll crumple like paper. BUT he would then have to deal with the entirety of NATO. If he is stupid enough to do that, then a larger military budget isnt helpinh anyone.

I think our priority should be having people people be able to both eat and not freeze to death rather than making something else to blow up which will sit in a warhouse somewhere until it is obselete.

  3. Yeah that’s about right. Everyone In Europe announces massive defence budget increases and rearmament programs in response to Russian aggression over the last year. The uk hasn’t even tried to accelerate the projects it has and actually saw it’s budget shrink thanks to inflation. Enough to make you despair sometimes.

  4. People seem to be ignoring the massive elephant in the room when it comes to funding which is the massive amounts of money we’re spending on green projects both here and around the world which should be focused on things that will actually benefit lives now. Our armed forces have been underfunded for years now and you need to take your Labour blinkers off if you believe this is only the Tories fault. It wasn’t them that made us waste £20bn in Afghanistan now was it?

In regards to the comments about Russia being inept etc etc you’re being dangerously naïve. Russia isn’t just fighting Ukraine, they’re fighting NATO. The weapons the Ukrainians are using are from NATO, the surveillance satellites? NATO..

To really put things into perspective look at what Russia is fighting right now and compare it to the forces we fought in Afghanistan…….. a force that had no air force to speak of nor satellite imagery etc and they managed to put up a fight (and arguably win due to a certain president’s ineptitude) the war in in Afghanistan.. they fought an entire coalition and still did damage to us.

One final note although even I’ll say this may not eve happen but… Russia has a habit of doing poorly in the first part of a conflict and then steamrolling once they get a feel for things.

Also as a final-final note don’t discount the Russian air force neither… funnily enough the news is quiet about that, maybe ask some Ukrainian officials what they think of the MiG-31’s that are blatting Ukrainian aircraft out of the sky along with ask the Indian air force how their Russian aircraft fared against the Americans in training exercises… the Americans had quite a bloody nose from the accounts online.

  5. No shit, we lost billions in tax revenue due to Brexit and we’re on track to lose more with the upcoming recession. Stupid to keep pining for a defence, education, and healthcare system of a rich country when we’re no longer one. We can’t afford it, full stop, especially after our Brexit and COVID debt, and our credit rating down the toilet.
