I expect Greece to have an even lower score in the future.
The way the current government has manipulated the TV and newspapers is just unbelievable to see. Next level propaganda, seriously.
Wtf happened with Slovenia? Also good job Estonia!
hmm… looking at our [wyboracza.pl](https://wyboracza.pl) or TVN i would suspect that we should be greenish-green.
I drop from clouds.
Italy is so fucked up that it fell from grace. Long ago.
>Journalists have been increasingly threatened, harassed and physically attacked. Most violations are attributable to right-wing or far-right actors, while some are perpetrated by individuals close to the radical left and by the police. The years 2020 and 2021 were very violent, especially at protests against Covid-19-related restrictions, where dozens of reporters were attacked.
This is a really bad development in Germany.
What is also strange is that the people at these “Corona Demos” have very often referred to our constitution, and that their rights enshrined there are being violated.
And then they themselves violate Article 5 of the constitution, which protects the free press.
What happened to Italy?
Title correction: *Press freedom index in the EU 2022
Honestly sick of people thinking the EU = Europe
> a qualitative analysis of the situation in each country or territory based on the *responses of press freedom specialists* (including journalists, researchers, academics and human rights defenders) to an RSF *questionnaire* available in 23 languages.
So this is the **perception** *of the press freedom*
As Hungarian living in Greece.. I feel pretty much brainwashed now. Good thing that my Gf is from Bulgaria, so she can keep me well informed.
Number 1?
Now that we have Freedom™️ we must be cerfull what we print.
Is this freedom from the state/government or freedom in the way that press personnel aren’t bothered by people demonstrating?
Because in Germany during covid all of these covid deniers really had one out for practically every media outlet
I’m surprised greece isn’t even lower. Our tv especially is pure fake garbage. We believe that we are always the best, everyone is against us and we get unfair treatment by the world. That’s what it looks like to me. Although i have to check the validity of this image, because you never know.
Friendly reminder: A lot of the Greeks you see on this sub whitewashing the current government are a product of this.
For example, I recall just mentioning that there are illegal pushbacks of refugees going on at our boarders, which sent a whole horde attacking me. And it’s not even taking a stance, it’s a widely reported fact. While the media and government here insist it’s just Turkish propaganda.
I bet in Problematic countries, you don’t get this on the news
The U.K. would be in 24th position with a score of 78.71%.
Norway would be 1st with 92.65%.
Switzerland would be 14th with 82.72%.
Iceland would be 15th with 82.69%.
ah, as always Portugal can into … Nordics?
Bulgaria is not the worst. I see this is a win.

Can we get much ~~higher~~ lower!!!
This is WRONG! If it was correct, I would have seen it in the news. Or the major sites. Or the newspapers. Our PM’s best friends that own all of them would let us know, right?
Now it’s Italy’s turn to go into the balkans. Move aside Portugal!
I can confirm that Portugal has indeed quite the freewingly critical Press Environment compared with, for example, the UK were I lived previously.
Mind you, there’s clearly at times a bit of manipulation of the way the news are presented and interviews (though, somewhat shockingly, less in the public channel that in the main private ones), but nothing anywhere as overt and frequent as the stuff I regularly saw in the UK.
