Government lying about NHS strike negotiations, Unite union leader claims

  1. Amazing how they changed their tune. From essential workers to being told “well be thankful you never lost any pay when everyone else was furloughed”
Like yeah no shit nurses doctors railway workers bus drivers postmen etc never lost pay you told us it was essential to the country that we kept working.

Lying set of cunts purposely cut budgets to everything to ensure there was no room for a decent pay rise for the workers.

    Fucking snakes lot of them.

  2. It’s a massive mess.

NHS needs genuine reform and a grown up conversation about what it should do and what it can’t do. Wrap around insurance shouldn’t be off the cards.

BUT, that’s how we make it better for the future. Only staff and funding will get us to the point we can have that debate

  3. All the more reason to back striking staff. They are being used as political scapegoats by the government, both to demonise strikers and to make it seem as if there is no money available to pay staff what they are worth. There is enough money to give NHS staff a pay rise to match inflation at least, something that will only help the economy as staff will actually have money to spend in it, the government just don’t want to pay it. There are problems with the NHS in its current state but they will be trivial compared to an NHS with over 100,000 vacancies in it. That will only grow as more staff burn out and leave for other countries or healthcare altogether.

  4. I’m a nurse and it’s so abundantly clear what the government are doing, they’d love to privatise the NHS, and as they know it’s already happening slowly anyway why would they put the brakes on by making the NHS more appealing to staff? My partner works for the priory group, she has never seen a privately funded patient yet, she gets paid close to £10k more than the equivalent role in the NHS, her clinical lead is on over £55k, a role which is capped at £39k in the NHS, it’s all funded by the government, there’s no private funds going into it at all. So the idea we can’t pay nurses more is a load of bollocks, we just need to start reducing private bed usage and agency usage to rake the money back.
