  1. [New figures around poverty, social exclusion and material deprivation](https://statbel.fgov.be/en/themes/households/poverty-and-living-conditions/risk-poverty-or-social-exclusion) have been released by Statbel.

    * West Flanders and Flemish Brabant have the lowest AROPE rates in Belgium, with 9.4% and 9.5% respectively.
    * Brussels and Hainaut have the highest AROPE rates, with 38.8% and 30.2% respectively.
    * Poverty rates are also very strongly correlated with education level: whereas only 8.7% of highly-educated people experience poverty and social exclusion, this is the case for 36.8% of lowly-educated people

  2. I have observed the excellent way in which both politicians and middle management solves these kinds of problems, and I present to you the easy solution: let’s merge Brussels and Vlaams Brabant into a new province Brabant Central/Midden Brabant, and merge West Flanders and Hainaut into a new province L’Ouest/’t Westen. This will significantly reduce the (measured) highest risk of poverty and social exclusion, earning me my well-deserved bonus.

  3. What really surprise me is the position on Walloon Brabant… its one of the richest et most educated part of Belgium… this map seems a bit wierd to me.

  4. I think the saddest part is that my parents were poor and now I too.

Wish intergenerational stuff wasnt true but heck
