note that this data includes sales for old buildings but also newly constructed buildings
even if we exclude old buildings from calculation,**the share of heat pumps in new buildings would be close to 10%**
cost is also not a good excuse,as Hungary,Poland,Lithuania are far poorer yet the rollout of heat pumps is much much higher
*heat pump utopia*
Can’t Poland have nice things?
UK: “We don’t need no heat pumps, triple glazed windows, energy savings – we have our carpeted bathrooms!”
top 5 all nordic
If it’s anything sensible or to do with infrastructure then uk will be last 🙁
I’m in Scotland and had a heat pump installed last Wednesday. I’m currently going through periods of high anxiety because my smart meter is showing it may have been an expensive mistake.
as for 2022
Czech,Slovak and Polish markets have doubled, Netherlands grew 80%,Germany grew 53% ,Belgium grew 66%
Lithuania and Portugal likely crossed the 50% threshold, while France and Austria are between 40 and 50%
4 markets are likely still under 20% Slovakia,Belgium,Hungary and UK
only UK and Hungary are likely below 10% market share for heat pumps
Mmm. I wonder what that number for The Netherlands indicates, and whether they included ‘hybrids’ (that have gas as second option).
Most Dutch new houses are built with a shared (waterbased) heating system – not a heat pump.
Perspective from NL: we’re currently in a race to install as much insulation and solar panels as possible, as fast as possible. Most folks aren’t ready (financially, or insulated-ly) for heat pumps. Vattenfall is our largest energy supplier, and is working on a high-heat pump to install in homes, but hasn’t come through yet. And while there are some VAT-return incentives, govt. hasn’t been pushing the tech in a big way yet.
I suspect we’ve peaked in consumer solar installs, and as the insulation rating of the average house increases over the next couple of years, we’ll see a significant uptake in heat pump installations. I know I am investing in my house in that order, anyway.
