I was reading the news when I stumbled upon this quote from [this article](https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.dw.com/en/cyprus-votes-to-elect-new-president/a-64614924) and it made me question whether it was the right thing for us (including politicians) to do.
>”Corruption is at the core of the discussion, the economy and daily life. The Cyprus problem is a secondary issue,” Giorgos Kentas, associate professor of international politics and governance at the University of Nicosia, told the AFP news agency.
We had NEVER not even once set the Cyprus problem as a secondary matter in the past, until the current elections. Maybe that’s why ELAM got 7% of the votes?
Brushing through previous news I have also come to understand that the EU was annoyed af after Crans Montana and only cares to implement any solution now. Something to put the matter to sleep for good. I am afraid that after some more years, possibly decades pass, they will present us with a partition plan and we will accept it without much thought, because of other “more important” internal issues which will be present within our country.
Returning to the question asked in the title of the post: How do you feel about this shift in priorities from both the public and the politicians? Are you worried about this?
P.S. For reference, I don’t support any political party.
