MP Jonathan Gullis lays into ‘savages’ and ‘scumbags’ blighting Stoke-on-Trent

  1. Someone needs to point out to him that his party have done this. They’re the ones who reduced police numbers. They’re the ones destroying education, social services and the fabric of society.

  2. In a hotly contested field of world class pricks resident in the Tory party, Jonathan Gullis might be in the running to be the most loathsome of them.

The way he sneers and jeers in the House is way worse than anyone else and has him looking like a belligerent teenager. That he seems to view his own constituents with the same levels of contempt seems to be no surprise.

  3. Oh fuck off. He’s representing a party that ruined the only major industry in the town, cut local services to the bone and has allowed it to sink further into the pits than it already was and he has the nerve to criticise the people who live there? Instead of demonising people, perhaps he could suggest ways his party could fix its mistakes over the past 40-50 years.

  4. When the team isn’t performing, it’s the manager that gets the sack. Gullis is the one with power and authority. The government need to go.

  5. Such as himself?

This twat appears to have not noticed which party is in power and therefore in a position to do something about it.

  6. I mean, I’ve seen videos of this man acting in ways that aren’t exactly professional or in line with his status. But rich of him to call other people scumbags when he’s clearly not the epitome of a classy.

  7. People act up and turn to crime when they have no opportunities and no outlets. Many studies prove this. Stoke on Trent is a dump that’s rife with unemployment.

The government could do something about this, his government.

But as ever the rhetoric is, have nothing, be offered nothing and be happy with it.

  8. I suspect the likes of Gullis and Anderson and before them Braverman and Patel are rolled out to say something controversial to take the headlines away from other ongoing Tory corruption and incompetence.

Johnson and Truss pretending they’re still PM’s? Johnson getting the taxpayer to pay his £200k legal bill and swanning around the globe not doing his job, Mone still playing in the sun despite defrauding taxpayers of £100m+, Brexit impacts, energy cartels rinsing us, etc.

The Tories play the dead cat distraction game very well – sometimes you don’t even realise it’s happening.

  9. I wonder how these people get into drugs, antisocial behaviour and committing petty crimes. Perhaps they just wake up one morning thinking they’ll try out a life of crime? Perhaps they’re born with criminal proclivities baked into their DNA? Bad parenting, perhaps? Hanging about with the wrong crowds? Wonder how those parents and crowds came to be…

Over 40 years of banging the self-responsibility drum, things are worse than ever, and these people are still at it, despite the obvious failure of this lazy, stupid narrative.

That this singularly moronic man was ever a teacher, and now a representative of the people, is horrifying. Horrifying but sadly unsurprising.

  10. We need to improve education, provide accessible work as well as services. It’s such a joke how entire regions get abandoned by the government in terms of funding, then they’ll complain that they’re not as smart or civilised as the rest of the country. They need to fix the institutional problems instead of complaining about the side effects of them.

  11. Funny because when I hear “scumbag” and “Stoke” in the same sentence I immediately think of the name Jonathan Gullis.

  12. I’m fed up of hearing that only tories can be trusted with the economy. I’ve seen absolutely nothing to back that up.

How can a country grow and become prosperous if nothing runs? If people are destitute? If you shit down youth centres in deprived areas and kick all those kids onto the street

  13. So that’s yet another Tory MP literally calling his own constituents scum, to add to the likes of Ben Bradley and his comments on child support being wasted on crack and hookers. But still somehow its Labour who hate the working class because idk they don’t want to punch every teenage refugee in the balls every 5 minutes or some nonsense.

  14. Born and raised in Stoke – the place was never rich but has absolutely collapsed in the last 10 years due to Tory policy. No shit people turn to crime when there’s not many options, not much hope, and no strong communities or support for them.

The fact we elected a bunch of these Tory pricks is the only part of this collapse that the people of Stoke are responsible for.

  15. He really is readying up his job application for his next jon, who do you think; TalkTV or GBNews?

  16. He’s like a comprehensive school version of johnson flapping his arms around. Great people in the six towns caught in post industrial decline and years of neglect

  17. Stoke on trent was never a forward thinking city but now with a tory council and all 3 mps tory its put us back at least twenty years. The “city centre” has shops leaving in drobes, dust heads everywhere. Solution build two multi storey car parks. Cheers lads. But if you want to see the good things going on in stoke have a look at the we love stoke instagram page

  18. Stoke mentioned two days running.

Stoke has been in trouble for 40 years and neither of the main parties can claim anything positive.

This guy is an absolute arse – but the Labour Party has plenty of history of parachuting in external candidates to what used to be a safe Labour area……. and then doing absolutely fuck all apart from spouting a few pleasantries at election times.

It’s one of those former industrial areas that have been left to rot and nobody gives a fuck ……. none of the political parties are interested in anything but votes.

What is blighting Stoke and many places like it is a political class who don’t care……. export jobs, kill off hope, let it rot

There is a real danger of the politics of Stoke becoming quite extreme – neither of the main parties give a shit and abandoned people can get really quite angry when the system is so against them.

  19. Man who contributed mightily to the many social problems in the country, bemoans that the problems exist. Well, OK then. How about you feck off knobhead.

  20. I wouldn’t believe anything this grovelling child is peddling. He has zero respect for parliamentary debate. He just acts like a child who’s lost his toys. A bully, with no idea about what good conduct is. Anytime I hear the Speaker call Gullis, the moans are audible throughout the House. Zero content. Just populist rhetoric. The very definition of a Red Waller, who hopefully will be gone by next election.

Edit: Nevermind. Just looked up his constituency polls. No fat chance in hell that this bastard is staying. Good riddance!

  21. When I read the title of this post I assumed he was attacking people who talk badly about his town, without actually going there and seeing it for themselves. But no, he just hates his constituents

  22. Why the fuck working and middle class people continue to vote conservative is beyond me.
I left the UK 17 years ago and am shocked by what happened after 12 years of Tory party policies.
