Hei kjære nordmenn. Im from Tyskland planning a road bike trip through Norway for summer 2024 and right now its based on sights I heard of and random street view results on google maps. Can anyone recommend some places to visit from here on? I would drive around 100km per day and going back to Oslo.

I would suggest that you either visit Tusenfryd (it’s Norways biggest amusement park) and or visit some small cities that have Norwegian history in it
The summer is coming boys, Germans are already planning their trips.
Maybe take an extra day and bike out to Lindesnes fyr? Amazing view both from the road the the location of the fyr, and you’ll pass through Mandal, a really picturesque southern Norwegian town.
Geilo just for the meme😉
As i live in the midle of norway i recommend you bike around southern norway, perferably inn the midle of the road

Hey! Check out MatthewNorway on YouTube for tips on cycling.
Go coastline!
You’re from Germany, not Tyskland. It’s just weird to write ‘Tyskland’ when the rest of your message is in English.
Something nobody here has said, is you might wanna find a cycle friendly route… I see you selected car on this map.

There’s a lot of tunnels through mountains in Norway, this country loves them, for long distances too! These are really not a great place to cycle through.
So I would really take that into consideration.
In Åmot in Vinje municipality it got two camping places.
On Haukeliseter Fjellstue, they got an expensive but good burger coated with goat cheese

Road bike as in bicycle (as opposed to motorbike)? Sorry if that sounds a weird question but to me as an English speaker from UK it’s ambiguous. Also because 100km is about the distance you’d expected to do on a bicycle, but you talk about driving (which in English is generally reserved for motor vehicles).
And assuming bicycle, I’d highly recommend that you consume some of MatthewNorway’s YouTube content. He covers just the sort of thing you’re wanting to do.
valdres
If you like to hike maybe visit Ørnenapen in Bygland and here (58.9329953, 7.6819210) is a nice waterfall
After Odda, go on the west side of the fjord (road 550) and visit all the cider breweries, then when you reach Utne… take the ferry to east side of the fjord (Kinsarvik) and follow your original route on road 13.
Just as a heads up. The road between Kinsarvik and Eidfjord is a construction zone and regulated with lights in the summer months. Hopefully they are finished in 2025 tho.
STRYN… its surreal how beautiful that place is, olden is also OK. Camping at stardals elva (Early morning/ before sunset) is magical.
That looks hilly, going from sea level to the top of the mountains and back down again. Hope you like going uphill on a bike?
After Eidfjord, head to Øvre Årdal and go see Vettisfossen
Try to adjust your itinerary, and pay a visit to Kjerag, and the Pulpit Rock, you wont regret it… and if you will go to kjerag taking the road from Sinnes towards it, you will be extremely enjoying the icelandic scenery that you will see on the sides.
In Eidfjord I recommend you spend a night or two in this hotel “Eidfjord Gjestgiveri” cheap, and super relaxing, and it’s near the waterfall “Vøringfossen”
Enjoy the breathtaking heaven…
Use this tunnel map to plan your route. [https://www.cycletourer.co.uk/maps/tunnelmap.shtml](https://www.cycletourer.co.uk/maps/tunnelmap.shtml)
[https://brouter.de/](https://brouter.de/) is a great routing tool for cycling. Choose the web mode.
There is a youtuber based in Oslo who makes great cycling videos around Norway. He finds plenty of hidden gems you’ll want to explore [https://www.youtube.com/@matthewnorway](https://www.youtube.com/@matthewnorway) Check out his website [www.cyclenorway.com](https://www.cyclenorway.com)
Enjoy the ride!
I can’t speak for the entire route, but I know the road from Odda to Eidfjord pretty well.
Plenty of people ride their bikes there, it’s definitely possible. But keep in mind that the road there is very narrow, and in the summer there’s a lot of traffic there. That can definitely lead to uncomfortable situations with cars trying to pass you/slow traffic, which might not be the most enjoyable. It’s a beautiful road though, so definitely worth it.
Another option for that part would be to go on the west side of the fjord, not the east. The west side is generally a better road, and there’s usually less traffic since it isn’t the “main” road. You can take the ferry from Utne to Kinsarvik, letting you avoid most of the narrow road. If you do that, you’d join the route shown here at that little “u” to the left and slightly below where Eidfjord is
The road (9) from kristiansand to Hovden is quite boring. Go Kristiansand – Sandnes-Sand-Suldal-Røldal-Haukeli-Oslo.
I’ve had a few cyclists visit (via warmshower.org). I have heard great things about the app “mappy.cz” for finding cycle friendly routes.

If you have a garmin GPS device you can download free and up-to-date map here:
http://frikart.no/
I can recommend you the hike „Dronningstien“ It’s a beautiful 4 hrs hike with fantastic view. It’s on your way from Eidfjord to Odda
If you go over Strynefjell to Stryn, you will have the most beautiful views with majestic waterfalls and hairpin turns. I think, if you bike, you can follow the old roads, where there are no cars and not as many and long tunnels.
From Stryn you can go trough the most beautiful valley in the world: Nordangsdalen. When you pass the incredible lake Lyngstølvatnet (Google it!) you will soon be in Øye or/and Urke, where you can camp by the sea, and look for the whales.
You should definetly be prepared for rainy days and nights though, especially in the west of Norway.
Enjoy and have the trip of your life ❤️
Why do you want to bike through setesdal? It’s the ugliest valley in southern Norway inhabitated by hillbillies and cannibals.
Take the ferry to Bergen and the train to Voss. From there bike down to Hardangerfjorden and criss cross the fjord where you can. Head for Eidfjord, bike up to hardangervidda and Geilo and take the train to Oslo. From there take the ferry back to Kiel.
Bro imagine choosing voluntarily to go to Odda roflmao
Take the ferry from the German/Polish border all the way over through Sweden.
Atlantic Road
My proposal if you put som gravel tires on your bike: [https://www.tourdedovre.no/en/home/](https://www.tourdedovre.no/en/home/)
You are, of course, visiting the Lofoten and Vesteraalen islands. And you are, of course, going to see the whales. Welcome!
Just use Strava, and use routs most ppl have used

See if you can run this through Google translate
I would add Lysefjord to that itinerary. Maybe take a day cruise when there.
fucking hate bikers on roads…i always have a urge to run one of you fuckers over.
go to lysefjorden👌🏽
maybe https://cyclenorway.com/ will be launched in time for you tu use!
the man behind it is: https://youtube.com/@matthewnorway
and according to a video April 2023 might be a launch date.
Yo guy from norway here. if you’re up for scenic routes then i suggest you either take the coastal route from kristiansand up to bergen ish. But if you really want scenic routes then i suggest you go further north, it’s simply breathtaking the more north you go.
Just missing the last bit: Bike from Eidfjord up to Hardangervidda /s

Hardangerfjorden is really beatiful through, good luck!
Why the hell would u wanna go on a bike trip here
maybe Arendal?
Byglandsfjord 😚👌

See Sarpsborg, the turd of Norway
I biked from Nordkapp to Lindesnes in 2015, we did mainly the coast. It was beautiful. I would of course reccomend this, but there are a lot of cool places inland too. Valdresflya is cool.
We are only food that was expirrd and discarded from stores and made a documentary about it for Norwegian TV. You can watch it on youtube if you are interested.
