The amount of money that property owners steal via inflated rent-prices is much higher than the damage caused by this kind of protests. It shows a high amount of bigotry, that people get angrier about this protest than about theft by rent.
Finally someone takes to the streets. The living situation in Zurich is the worst in any of EU.

The housing situation in Zurich is precarious, but these are just squatters pissed off because their party is over and they will start looking for a place to rent like everyone else.
The Kantons are busy attracting foreign businesses without asking where all the people are going to live who accompany them.
I think there are a lot of properties around the city that could be used to better effect. The problem is, they get refurbished and the prices of the property get inflated hugely.

We went to a demonstration years ago, and we managed without ski masks, pyrotechnics, throwing stones, smashing windows and destroying restaurants and other small businesses. Would the media call this a demonstration if it were “Nazis”?
Yeah „Wohnungsnot“, this was demo for shutting down Koch Areal, there was not even 1 banner saying something about the housing problem. Now they use political problems for they purpose and destroy the city. Funny enough at Koch Areal there will be built cheap housing these people don‘t want to pay anything for housing.

That’s the main problem with high-density districts: because you can extract way more money from 1 square metre of land when stacking people above each other, land prices explode.
Very high land prices force people to build more dense. But to gain a reasonable amount of money, you build bigger flats to sell them in a more elaborate price class.
So, you have bigger flats and dense neighbourhoods. They look ugly, they have zero aesthetics. But as long people are dumb enough to pay, you can even increase prices. Would beautiful rows with smaller flats and with nice roofs be better? Sure! More affordable, better life quality. But less money for the owners.
That was human garbage. Absolute idiots hated by their parents. All of them have serious brain damage. Just pure human trash.

I actually passed through that demonstration on my bike. Very aggressive crowd with some communist flags. How’s that even allowed? You wouldn’t imagine an actual demonstration with Nazi flags just being escorted by the police. Myself being from a postcommunism country myself I can’t imagine how these people just carry around flags of regime that killed 100s of millions of people.
