I’m disappointed

  1. I’m not convinced that we’re more racist to black people than the Italians or the French. Every single off-colour remark I’ve heard about black people since moving to Europe has been from an Italian person.

But there was that one post recently about a guy’s coworker giving him a tough time because he was black, so I guess it does happen.

  2. They surveyed 6000 people, so an average of 214 people per EU country (28 at the time of the survey) which I would say is an incredibly small sample size. I also bet they asked a bunch of people in some of the larger cities and didn’t even compare regional differences. There’s a big difference in attitudes in London vs Cornwall for example.

  3. Dude you didn’t see the share of Colombians that are subject to racism here in Luxembourg! A full 100% of them are experiencing it according to the American with a high profile job in Luxembourg! 100%!!!

  4. I am disappointed, that people still use trashy, unscientific statistics, with too small sample sizes and no methodology.

I made an as scientific statistic and an overwhelming 66% of the replies stating, that OP is not in the possesion of full cognitive capabilities.
    n=3

  5. I personally haven’t experienced any overt racism living as a black guy in Luxembourg. I did experience some whilst living in the UK and Netherlands.

  6. I don’t get how Malta can be the lowest in this list with only 20%. When I visited the island people seemed kind of racist against refugees. It is very difficult to believe that only 1/5 experienced racism there. We literally saw signs against Africans installed on some residential buildings.

  7. bro they must have done this survey on a specifically chosen group of people lol. theres no way luxembourg is that bad i know tons of black people and theres just no way its that bad.

  8. It’s 11 out of 21 asked. 21 is still an over representation. About 320 million in the countries surveyed, so Lux should have asked 12. It’s hardly a representative sample, but then again, it’s not meant to be.

I was in Delhi recently. The amount of people that came after me for money, touched me or tried to charge me a higher price was staggering. I kept being warned about pickpockets and muggers. Racist profiling. Worse because I was the only white in the group.

  9. What shittybstatistics is this?? Luxembourg more racist towards black ppl than portugal???
Hmm then again we have many portuguese ppl here 😅

  10. Hi my Name is Frank, I’m 100% Luxemburgish and I’m ashamed of those stats, I have tears in my eyes, please allow me to talk in the name of the by fare larger part of us that is absolutly not racist or against any color, Ethnie or origine. We welcome you arms wide open at any time. Luxembourg was build on the fact that a lot of origina came together later we started the BELUX what came to BENELUX and at the end this model was used to create EUROPE! We all have the same home we are facing racism only because anybody started pointing at those small differences inbetween us, but we are all different hence there will always be differences and that’s good how it is imagine all would look the same… be different be who ever you want to be and respect eachother and we all live a great and happy life. I love all of you (except those I don’t 🙂 )

  11. It’s only missing most eastern countries where most “black people” don’t even go because they know they’re not welcome… I guess they can’t experience it if they don’t go there, right?

  12. The only racist remarks I’ve heard were made against the French and Portuguese.
Never specifically against a person of colour.

Maybe it is due to our high percentage of old citizens?

(For context, I have a racist Dad)

  13. There is Racism in Luxembourg obviously, i’m not black but my parents immigrated here 45 years ago and I still deal with racism almost daily. Nothing to heavy dumb remarks, stupid questions, talking luxemburgish with luxemburgers and they keep talking french. I get asked for my “carte de séjour” i don’t have one I’m Luxemburger..
Having some black friends I experienced stuff that wasn’t ok.

  14. Hmmm:

Today, Luxembourg has a population of 645.000 people with an incredible diversity. In fact, almost 50% of the population doesn’t have Luxembourgish nationality! And this does not even take into account the 197.000 cross-border commuters who work in Luxembourg.

..so what does this tell us…?
