Just checked the petition [\#2345](https://www.petitions.lu/petition/2345) and in fact it seems to be closed based on the last text message: “Le pétitionnaire n’a pas souhaité poursuivre sa démarche. En conséquence la Commission des Pétitions clôture la pétition n°2345.”.

To my opinion, if a petition has reached the legal threshold it shall be debated in the parliament whatever the original petitioner wants to discuss it or not. You never know, maybe the original petitioner has been put under pressure from its employer and had to withdraw the petition. The possibility to close one once it reached the threshold does not seem legit for me.

What people signed the petition should now do? Create a new one and wait 6-months more to run the whole process again?

For now one may think that the government decided to withdraw the petition they do not like from the discussion.

  1. This is an illusion, don’t waste or time – if the parliament wanted a 35 hours week, they would simply vote it.

  2. This was closed last July?
Anyway I think that something has to change in order to have a better work/life balance. It’s becoming really hard for households where both adults have to work full time in order to pay for rent and for their bills.
    Sad world…
