Hollywood seems to have an endless supply of money when it comes to producing films that fetishize the death of German soldiers. I don’t think i’ve ever heard or seen Germans comment on this.
I saw the trailer for this doozy this morning.
SISU / @Lionsgate
This is the craziest trailer for a movie I have ever seen.
Don't know anything about it except it looks AWESOME!pic.twitter.com/oikUjYJuQA

My grandfather fought in WWII and killed “nazis”. He cried about it until his dying days. I find this Hollywood trend to be extremely irreverent and grotesque.
please share your perspective.

I can only speak for myself but I literally don’t care
TIL that Hollywood is in Finland.

I mean, at least people in Finland are generally aware of what was going on with their own fascists at the time, can’t say the same about a lot of other countries.
This action sequence offends me for its silliness, not for slaying ‘Nazis’
I’m not offended and I don’t care, I think they make good movie enemies.
I really don’t care personally, and I don’t know anyone who would be offended by this. As long the cruelties of the Nazis are not glorifyed, i think everyone is okay with that.
I relly enjoy movies like Iron Sky or Inglorious Basterds
Why should we?
I’m german and never had issues killing nazis in games like cod myself, it even was fun. I think you have to be a neonazi to be offended by that, but who cares what they like anyway.
The biggest Problem I have with those is that they are just a boring uncreative trope. But I see no way why I should think that this is offensive to me.
It’s boring. We are used to it.
German society as a whole has dealt with that heritage for a long time and most people know who they were and how they worked.
But they are not our ancestors per se. And in the movies they kill unnamed Nazis, like in Vampires or Werewolves. I don’t think about my relatives when watching American movies.
it makes me sad when people who where forced to fight get killed, for example the two czechs in Saving private ryan who are tried to surrender… or the kids who where forced to fight but the rest?
Kill em all! fuck those facists
What a bait
the only people that would get offended are nazis
absolutely no problem for me. In German society, the ll World War is also seen as a liberation of the Germans from themselves.
History is rarely black and white, usually both sides of a conflict have good and bad things about them. That’s why I understand why filmmakers focus so much on the ll world war. A regime can hardly be much more evil than Nazi Germany. No matter who fought against Germany, against the Nazis they all look like angels.
So why not make the umpteenth movie about the war where you were actually 100% the good guys and the bad guys actually changed through bombing ?
