When do you think this will be resolved?

  1. Likely the government will crush the strike like they almost did with nurses within a week if it’s not resolved.

  2. Probably in couple of weeks. This is losing tons of money for both sides so this is not interest for anyone to continue for long. If you go strike for too long you lose more than you gain and most employees don’t really like that.

  3. AKT have done the one thing one should never do in a negotiation: painted themselves into a corner. The current union president has promised his members something he can’t deliver, so finding a solution at the negotiating table just isn’t feasible anymore. Some kind of outside (State) intervention will probably be required to solve this mess.

  4. They should just fire all that are in the strike and. Hire new ones with the same pay. It’s actually really good 4000e/month.

  5. In two weeks maximum.

Strikes of the AKT members are a regular occurrence in Finland, since Finnish economy is export-driven, and AKT controls the ports. This gives them a very good bargaining position which they of course ruthlessly exploit.

  6. Because of this strike, I barely have anything to do at my work for an insurance company. When it’s over, I’m going be flooded. I’m relaxing now because whenever this ends, I’m going go through hell.

  7. When AKT strikes it usually takes for a while. There is a lot of tensions between workers and the employer, which are kept in bay with the collective agreement. And if the state tries to break the strike it will be all hell loose, AKT is a strong union.

  8. – “4000€(+extras) is not enough for our work!”

A barely educated tetris player sitting in a crane, probably.

(Also sitting on a 1,5 million euro loan. Because you just HAD to have THAT house.)

  9. By next vacation season, as usual, because you can’t have paid vacation if you are not working.

  10. When robots take the easy manual job these overpaid storage brats should be doing. Really, they’re willing to sacrifice the entire Finnish economy to get unjustified benefits nobody else is getting. They were against modern shipping containers, mind you, on which the entire modern global logistic system is based on, solely to preserve their easy job and out of proportion benefits. They’re currently the public enemy number 1.

  11. Everyone has the right to strike if they think they are underpaid/abused in some way at work.
But striking in a time where the economy is struggling, while on an already good wage is not ethical (not illegal but not ethical)*. At least from my point of view.
But granted I am not familiar with their work.
Do they work not stop for multiple hours and shifts a day like the nurses?
Do they retire early like people who works in mines do because of the health risks?
What do they want from this strike?
This are btw genuine questions as I would like to know and understand their point of view also.
