It’s a lose lose situation for the government right now

Micheál Martin will destroy his own case for the vaccine passport, the hospitality industry, the jobs of tens of thousands, and his own leadership all in an afternoon’s work.
Remarkable achievement, even for this cringing, terrified, spiteful milksop Taoiseach who lied his way into office and sold a Seanad seat to a colleagues brother to get him there.

Despite what social media would have you believe a large majority of Irish people agree with further restrictions. It’s a fairly straight forward decision for the government
This Government is so shite they’ve somehow made us start having sympathy for the fucking Vintners of all people.

Ireland has a crazy high vax rate, something like 90% if I’m not mistaken. At this point what is to be gained by any restrictions? I know I’ll get derided as some stupid Yank who’s invading your sub but wouldn’t it make sense for your people and your economy to remain open? High risk people can self isolate if they choose while the predictable uptick in cases shouldn’t overburden the health system since most of you are vaxxed.
Gone beyond a joke now at this point.

NPHET got their way for most of this. And yet:
– Nothing from them on asking and deploying the good masks (FFP2/N95)
– All the pussy footing on antigen tests while several countries have been using it massively (both self and “pharmacy done” tests)
– Very feeble pushing for ventilation/HEPA
So, for real? NPHET is not doing their job if the only thing they know is tell things to close
People will still vote FFG anyway so although these decisions are vitally important and have real consequences for people and businesses, there are no real political consequences no matter how much of a total arse they make of this.
Fck this government!
NPHET should start pushing for health care refrom since this thing is not going away… by imposing restrictions all the time people are going to start being sceptical about vaccinations.
Its time to realise that the solution are the vaccines and the reform of the HSE so in winter months the capacity of beds and ICUs increase instaed of destroying peoples lives and mental health.
The constant drip of warnings is annoying and tiresome as well.
I thought NEPHT was meant to be not leaking recommendations and allowing the cabinet to make the decisions?
Pisses me off that everybody involved is making sure their favourite journo has their spin on the story while the public has their mental state jumped on before any actual decisions are made.
