The Matterhorn is arguably most famous as that mountain on those boxes of Toblerone you invariably see at the airport. It became the Toblerone logo way back in 1970.
The Matterhorn is a mountain of the Alps, straddling the main watershed and border between Switzerland and Italy. It is a large, near-symmetric pyramidal peak in the extended Monte Rosa area of the Pennine Alps, whose summit is 4,478 metres high (14,700ft), making it one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe.
Martin Heck who took this time lapse does amazing work. If you’ve not seen his Nox Atacama video on YouTube you really must have a watch as it is incredible.
