Still Open All Hours Series 7 cancelled by BBC One

  1. Wait… what? I heard about it a few years ago and just assumed it was cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons. Surely its not as funny as the style of comedy must have been watered down

  2. Shame. But I suppose it did a lot better than anyone predicted, and it was running a bit thin on the jokes towards the end.

  3. It may not be to everybody’s taste, but I would take a light hearted comedy over another bloody game show any day of the week….

  4. I’d heard about reboot when it was first announced and thought it was literally a one off special.

Fair play for managing to squeeze six series out of it.

  5. I had no idea this was still going, I used to watch the original quite a bit on UK Gold. Just tried a few clips, they have really tried to keep that classic campy humour of innuendos but it just doesn’t hit the same.

  6. I never managed an entire episode. And I saw the *whole* Reggie Perrin remake – the one with Martin Clunes.

  7. Didn’t even know it was still on.

Open All Hours itself only ran for four seasons and probably because of that remains a classic.

  8. Bit like the Dad’s Army film, glad they didnt make a series out of it. Love the original, it’s dated and some parts arent acceptable now like references to the fuzzy wuzzys in the Sudan but it’s still funny a lot of it regardless of that. The new film I dont think I laughed once. The new Red Dwarf is poor as well, peaked about 4 series ago mid 90s in Starbug.
