  1. Some additional information which I paraphrased from a comment by /u/Doopsie34343.

After the invasion there were 2 protests in Berlin: one on the 27th of February and another protest two weeks later on 13th of March.
This picture is from the first protest, which came about spontaneously. The later protest was planned and organized and therefore the turnout was even larger than during the first.

The photograph I shared shows only a snapshot of the masses of people who attend the protest – those who could be at the “Brandenburger Tor” during the protest. In realty, these people were moving some kilometers starting from “*Siegesäule*” down the “*Street of 17. Juni*”, passing “Brandenburger Tor”, moving further down “Lindenallee”. It was a constant stream of people filling the whole area that wouldn’t be interrupted for 5 full hours.

You can see a different perspective in [this picture](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FMmrsUrWYAg18aU?format=jpg&name=large) of the 1.5km from “Siegessäule” to “Brandenburger Tor”, half of the route before the official start of the protest. (Source: Greenpeace/Twitter)

*Funfact:* On the route of the protest, not far from “Brandenburger Tor”, is the Russian Embassy located. When passing by, most of the people took the chance to shout out a loud “Fuck you Putin!” towards the building and at the front windows.

  2. Honestly im impressed that so many people in west europe voiced support for Ukraine back then. My assumption (that was proven wrong) for a long time was that because west europeans largely didnt show much care during Crimea invasion & the Donbas War (2014-2022), it would continue being that way.
