The spectacularly short sightedness of this is amazing.
Big business in Ireland whinging about something that will drastically improve our capital city. Shock horror.
The worst thing is the government will probably bow down to them
Hungry bastards. Some of their pricing is an absolute scandal. They make more than enough to weather a little disruption.
I think a lot of these objections are really more hail marys than anything being submitted with a serious expectation that they will lead to big changes. Whether the metro runs under the site of Woodies Seatown or a few metres west is pretty irrelevant. That unit will be targeted for redevelopment shortly after the metro is completed. It’ll be across the road from a station. That woodies does not have a long term future, all going well.
But if you have a big business there, spending a few grand (perhaps less) on a unlikely objection on the off chance its listened to that might extend the life of your investment a few more years will make business sense.
Hardly surprising that a business that will be negatively impact will object to it. If anyone was told that they (personally) will suffer or lose their income for the bigger picture, they will likely not be best pleased either.
What’s important is the system’s response to it to ensure the best solution is reached.
Something crack eggs something omelette
Direct democracy. Problem solved
Their overpricing has a bigger impact on the business
Woodies get fkd
Absolute arseholes
It’s not like there’s a second Woodies in Swords with even more space to park
