Did the prices spike this high anywhere else? [Finland]

  1. In the UK, our shelves are empty of certain fruit and vegetables, it has nothing to do with Brexit apparently, as our government supporting media tells us the whole of Europe is like that!

Any Europeans care to confirm or deny this?

  2. It must be because of all the plastic they use to pack them 😁.
Are biodegradable gloves to pick up veggies not a thing outside Italy?

  3. Obviously it’s not the farmer upping the cost of the vegetables …it’s the price of oil going up so much that the plastic manufacturers couldn’t afford to individually wrap all the veg otherwise…! /s

  4. Winter isn’t the right season for bell pepper. They come from afar thus are more expensive, let alone the price of the plastic wrapper.

  5. €7-€7.5 here in Ukraine, probably cause it’s local grown and without ridiculous individual packing. Everything become more pricey here, but that makes sense considering the risks and how many businesses suffers due to aggression. The biggest poultry farm looted by Russians, coca-cola plant blown and etc.

  6. Was shopping today in Germany and a Paprika Mix (500g, one red, one green, one yellow), is going for 3,99. I’ve never ever seen it that high, and it came out of the blue. Last week they were 1,29

  7. I don’t often look at prices or keep them in my head but saw someone online complaining that a cucumber was 2.50€. I was also at the shop today and saw that in my local Lidl there were Cucumbers for 2€. I would think that’s a bit high.

  8. That is an unholy use of plastic. And per your question: yes damn near everywhere in the west. Due to an ongoing cost of living crisis that is slowly turning me into an anarchist

  9. I mean, cucumbers are at 2€ a piece here, but 10€ for a kg of bell peppers sounds dystopian

  10. Don’t eat pepper in winter, don’t eat vegetable wrapped in plastic, whatever the price. What fucking boring distopia is this ?

  11. Where in the UK are you? I’ve been into a small Tesco, a Lidl and a Waitrose this week and there were no gaps in the shelves. I have my main shop delivered by Tesco and all my fruit and veg was there, [inc my usual two cucumbers and six packs of tomatoes](https://imgur.com/a/jfvzV3j) (three varieties). No subs, nothing missing, but that’s normal anyway.

  12. bio quality red bell pepper packs of 3 go for 5€ max in german grocery stores (non-fancy ones). I mostly buy those with a green and a yellow one in it, which for for about 2-3€ max

  13. Finland has gone insane with the prices. Been away 10 years, could not afford to live there anymore. Cost of living, food, everything. You get taxed to death and can’t even get doctors appointment if needed.
