Trócaire is a word from the Irish Language which means “Compassion.” Every Year in Ireland, Internationally & in Europe Trócaire distributes “The Trócaire Box”. Which collects humanitarian funds. The Trocaire Box was created 50 years ago in response to the 1973 floods which ravaged Bangladesh.

  1. They should do an auld Trócaire box for Irish people this year. Donate it to all the lads up in Blanch that were out rioting yesterday.

  2. I could be wrong about this but trócaire is a for profit organisation. So they’re out to make money as far as I know. It’s why I choose to donate to SVP only. Can someone tell me other charities which are not for profit for me to expand my donations to?

  3. During the war and famine in Biafra we collected rose hips, to make rose hip syrup to be sold and the proceeds to go to famine relief. Also in our primary school they collected packets of biscuits, although I often wondered were these actually sent overseas.
