Skill issue 💪💪🇸🇪🇸🇪
What I’ll say is that Denmark looks much better this way.
The actual present day Denmark looks pretty ridiculous tbh, I can not take it seriously.
Hmm.
Something sinister is being planned with all of these ‟politics aside” maps.
No, and NO
Side note – the wars that led to this treaty included the famous “Swedes crossing the ice” incident, which a lot of people assume was from somewhere in Scania to Zealand, but the route was actually: current Germany > Jutland > ice > Funen > ice > Langeland > ice > Lolland > Falster > ice > Zealand, and then the eventual siege of Copenhagen with the Swedish army camped near current Brønshøj. So crossing pretty much everything *except* Øresund.
too bad, actually
Gotland also used to be Danish (lost some years earlier in 1645).
Skeeåååne!!
Ni kommer ALDRIG FÅ TILLBAKS DEM💪💪💪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪SKÅNE ÄR SVENSKT I GRUNDEN🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪PASSA ER SÅ VI INTE TAR BORNHOLM OCKSÅ!!!
Had no idea there was a big denmark at one point
A very very sad day
Imagine the toll revenues Denmark could have raked in the future… At this point St.Petersburg didn’t yet exist and Tallinn and Helsinki were just some small podunk hick towns at the edge of Swedish empire.
And Bornholm as well
That explains a lot about the difficult Skåne dialect
Sweden should dig Skåne away and let Denmark have that wasteland back
They can get Scania (Skåne) back for all I care about as a swede
That small island off the coast of Halland is Anholt.
When the treaty was being signed they had placed a glass of beer on the map covering the island, thereby making the island part of Denmark.
At least according to various tall tales.
And despite Sweden winning, we still got stuck with Scania! /s
I remember these names from reading Nils Holgersson as a kid. I’d just read the Hobbit and thought these were also in some fantasy land lol.
Denmark is the Scandinavian champions of losing wars to Sweden and being forced to cede provinces (including Norwegian ones) to Sweden.
Right now we’re taking those regions back through trade! Malmö is ours already!
I think a Swede borrowed your post from here or the Danish subreddit and posted on the Sweden subreddit to inform us Swedes about how long ago the war was between Sweden and Denmark.
Ehh… another one of our stupid and costly wars that were quite unnecessary because it was only started/’we got involved’ because the king wanted to settle an old score.
Later mistakes would be to side with Napoleon costing us our fleet, find out one morning we were on Bismarcks s***-list and ofc the last one where some guy woke up with a gun at his head and some nasty German informing him the country has been invaded because we were on the path to Norway.
Sweden should have sticked with Kalmar Unionen
