Romania has 70% of it’s current highways under development. We have good chances to double the number in the next 5 years. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support from EU. Happy I returned. Happy I’m here and can benefit of such a a great place to invest with such big returns!

  1. Let’s hope they actually finish within the next 5 years, instead of 10+ years that it took them to build the Targu-Mures – Turda highway….

  2. Green – open

    Orange – In construction

Black – In preparation , construction haven’t started

Blue year – Estimated opening date

  3. “in executie” is written exactly the same in Dutch and means the same thing! Also, do you see a lot of people returning? From brexit maybe?

  4. Talking from the Greek perspective, a country which has almost finished its highway construction program and similarly divided by mountains, the final outcome will be outstanding, highways bring the whole country so close… everywhere is so much more accessible than it was 20-30 years ago.

  5. That’s great, I’m really happy for Romania!

I read that corruption in Romania improved massively after joining the EU. What has your impression of this been? Is it noticeable and has it affected the day to day life of Romanians?

Are you investing in something, or are you just happy that others are investing?

  7. Happy to see more development in other European countries. Eurounity achieves great things, but it was also the will of Romanians and their decision to contribute to the unity that made this possible

  8. I see that Bucharest-Brasov route is not in the plans. That is a very tiring road with heavy traffic. It really needs upgrades. (IIRC, this was told this was the road Bechtel promised to build, but then ran away.)

  9. Don’t hold your breath.

It’s commonplace for the work to be stalled and even cancelled whenever a new party comes to power and decides that the previous one forgot to get some approval from that one department. The work then gets restarted from scratch including the feasibility reports which cost shitloads of money.

  10. OK cheeky take: I don’t like highways. They’re boring. I used to enjoy driving in Romania in the past, it was full adrenaline ride earlier, and I sometimes miss it. (I drove there a lot in the past)

  11. That’s great to hear 💪

Meanwhile in mob controlled Slovakia they cannot connect the capital in the west with the east border (512kms).

“The finalisation cannot be expected before 2040” !!!!!

Planned by communists as early as ‘68, being a “free” republic since ‘93, spineless crooks are funnelling money and the stupid nation is re-electing them 🤡
