dear norwegians and experienced travellers

My girlfriend and myself are planning to visit north of norway and the Lofoten Island towards the end of May until beginning of June. We have approximately two weeks (could be a bit more) and plan to follow more or less [this](https://www.earthtrekkers.com/10-day-lofoten-islands-northern-norway-itinerary/) itinerary, though we would want to stay a bit longer on the Lofoten Islands (I guess around 8 days).

Can I ask you a few questions?

* Do you recommend to stay in one place on the Lofoten Islands during the whole 8 days? If so, what would be the best place? Or is it better to move between South and North?
* What kind of places would be good to stay? Hotels? AirBnBs? Or would you even recommend renting a camper van and move around?
* Would you plan your vacation more in May or in June?
* Is there anything you would recommend visiting on the way form Tromsø?

thank you so much.
Love
A.

  1. “Would you plan your vacation more in May or in June?” – If you do not want to be there with two million other tourists, go as early as possible. In May you will have “less” people there, June and July are the busiest months.

  2. If it‘s a one-way rental from Tromsø to the Lofoten and you don‘t intend on coming back up to Tromsø keep in mind that there are steep ‘one-way rental’ surcharges. Usually I’d avoid those extra fees as best as possible, as it can be quite considerably more expensive. I know people that have rented campers from https://arcticcampers.no . They were pretty satisfied with their experience.

The itinerary that you want to follow is absolutely rock solid. Instead of more time on the Lofoten and the Vesterålen, I’d recommend spending more time on Senja though. You can potentially add 2 more days on Senja, e.g to explore Ånderdalen Nasjonalpark. It’s a pretty unique landscape that is quite different to the coastal mountains.

Don’t be surprised that there can still be quite some snow in the mountains at the end of May/ beginning of June. The further you get away from the immediate coastline the more snow you’ll encounter. Might make sense to bring some micro-spikes.

On your route there are plenty cabins/ Airbnbs/ hotels that you can choose from.
