In San Francisco or NYC a tall latte is often more than 5$ + tax. As is the case in many other urban areas where the cost of everything is a lot higher.
The average over the whole USA is meaningless.
If you like it that’s fine, but I never understood why people go to Starbucks in the first place. I’d rather go to some random restaurant or cafe, sit down and have coffee in porcelain without tons of other stuff added to it.
The Starbucks variants were designed with the North American markets in mind. You go buy that coffee based drink, then take it on your 40 minute drive to work. Sip on it until you arrive.
