Judges and prosecutors threaten unprecedented strike over working conditions

  1. If garbage collectors can go on strike, why not judges?

“Judges face working weeks of up to 80 hours and a growing backlog of cases, with complicated cases being pushed down the pile because there are not enough specialist prosecutors…”

  2. The traineeship for judges has been gutted in 2012 which has made it very unattractive to become a judge trainee. This is yet another consequence of the terrible VVD policies that could have been anticipated a decade ago.

  3. The Netherlands is turning into the UK – which could have been predicted by anyone over the last 10 years. Here in the UK, one earns more stacking supermarket shelves than as a criminal barrister (part of the British ‘rechtsbijstand’).

Dit ligt echt voor het grootste gedeelte aan de (soms vreemde) eisen die het OM zelf stelt voor het opleidingstraject tot OvJ.

  5. Welcome in the Netherlands of 10 years VVD power, where people ranging from garbage collectors and busdrivers, all the way trough judges, lawyers and doctors have to strike in order to be treated as a human being…
