I’d have expected a bump tbh, but maybe it’s too soon to tell.
The effecting point will be in what direction her successor is aimed.
I’m not sure I would expect a change yet. She didn’t resign in disgrace and it was pretty unexpected. So normal poll movements of leader resignations probably aren’t a great metric.
Think it’s a wait and see what th3 SNP come up with.
Probably a bit too soon to call it. We wont know the real impact until a successor is chosen.
Yet.
Overall the picture is pretty good for Scottish Labour, coming into a strong 2nd, cementing the unionist mantle and taking over like 10% of SNP voters.
If anything comes out about her husband’s donation to the party then that might change things, as will the new policies and direction set out by the new leader. Expecting a major shift in voting attitudes so early is a bit premature.
Being Scottish, I would love to be involved in these polls…..
I’m not surprised by this. Yes, she was a big figure and the face of the SNP, but this isn’t a johnson and the conservatives.
He built his “cult of personality” around himself and then warped to tory party into an extension of his personality cult. Sturgeon emerged from the SNP and it’s values and grew to be the figurehead but nonetheless without her will continue.
I don’t see anyone voting SNP for Sturgeon if they don’t already agree with the party’s principles, considering the founding principle is a major divisive issue. People’s views of independence will overrule their views on Sturgeon.
Biggest surprise was folks really thinking independence voters were going to abandon the SNP.
