Food prices in the currently occupied Mariupol. (in rubles, translated to Euro)

  1. I wonder if it screams “privileged” that I have no idea if this is expensive or cheap…

My first thought was “if you post this outside German supermarkets, some Germans will drive all the way to Ukraine to go shopping there because it’s cheap.”

  2. This doesn’t explain anything , is this a regular shop or an expensive one ?

What are the prices compared to produce in kyiv ?

Are items actually available or just posted for propaganda like North Korea does

  3. The prices may be surprising, but you would not like the taste. Especially mayonnaise and coffee, which is not coffee but a dark powder that dissolves in water

  4. Lol @ the “European” mayonnaise. Russian propagandists can foam at the mouth about “the degenerate West” as long as they want, but “European” will still be something we slap on our goods to underline their quality and charge the highest price.

  5. Uh…. How does one go about getting occupied? I pay €7 for a pack of spreadable butter and €2.5 for a half length cucumber

  6. What’s the purpose of these kind of posts? Food in Ukraine and other Eastern European markets were always cheaper than in the Western Europe. I feel like this kind of posts are to diminish the effects of war, but the reality is that most of these countries have lower wages compared with France, Germany, Denmark, UK and any other Western European countries…

  7. Just imagine casually strolling through the supermarket while in a war. Such weird, contradictory vibes.

  8. Somewhat higher than in my hometown in Russia, from what I can tell. OP, do you know what’s the typical salary there now? Can’t be high in a warzone with destroyed infrastructure.

  9. Sorry if this is stupid or insensitive but wasn’t Mariupol completely razed?

Also how does the mayo roll work, is it a squeeze-and-reseal situation or is that entire roll meant to be had in one go?

  10. I’m sure of one thing at least, that’s definitely a weird way of packing mayo, how does it even work?

  11. For those who think it’s cheaper than in their cities or countries, I suggest cut monthly income by a factor of 2 to 3 and think again about whether it’s cheap or not.

  12. These are special prices to bribe people in a destroyed city. They have to show how good ruzzia is, prices low, they rebuild neighborhoods. The only thing that they killed half a population of Mariupol

  13. Why are you there???

Edit: Ah nvm, post history screams pro Russian masquerading as just anti West. ok got it.

  14. In Western Europe, a year ago from October to February, I spent ~200 euro/month on groceries and ordering food. This year it’s been ~300 euro/month. I don’t know how that compares to Mariupol, but I suspect it would’ve been better for everyone if we didn’t let Russia invade.
