From your friends at NewIran, we would like to raise awareness about this meeting yesterday. Nearly every Western country boycotted the regime after we campaigned for this. But your FM chose to sit at the table with those who have murdered us for demanding basic human rights and regime change.

  1. For context:

Yesterday we urged Western officials worldwide to boycot the Islamic Republic’s speech at the UN Human Rights Council by walking out of the room. Sadly, a few Western foreign ministers not only didn’t walk out, they even met separately with them. I know you guys are not to blame, but I thought it was important you guys should know what’s going on.

Iran is in the midst of a huge revolutionary movement since September (the death of Mahsa Amini). For the “crime” of demanding fundamental human rights, civil liberties and a democratic and secular state, Iranian protesters are shot in the eyes, genital area, breasts, kidnapped, murdered or raped by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard. Those who end up in prison do not have lawyers, and they have 15 minutes of trial (sham trials). If the conviction is “waging war against God” they are hanged by a crane. As prisoners, they experience other abuses against fundamental human rights such as: torture, rapes. According to several NGO’s over 500 people have died during the protests of the last few months, over 20k are in prison and a dozen have been executed, just for demanding fundamental human rights.

According to the data collected by GAMAAN (The Group for Analyzing and Measuring Attitudes in Iran), 81% of Iranians in the country do not agree with the regime, and the percentage is 99% in the diaspora. [Things that are being demanded from the West are](https://twitter.com/gamaanresearch/status/1621861867176984577) (statistically): severing of diplomatic relations by closing the embassy, withdrawing the ambassadors; declaring the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard) as what it is: a terrorist organization (both internally and external), funding strikes and internet access, amongst other things.

Note: during the general session of the UN HRC, [your FM did call out Iran’s human rights violations](https://media.un.org/en/asset/k1t/k1ttshtdsc), but instead of heeding our demands for more pressure and support, she called for dialogue and understanding. She even urged the regime to take “meaningful reforms”. But we are not fighting for reforms. The West has tried to talk to this regime for 44 years. Thousands have died. What we are calling for now is neither military intervention nor dialogue: we want pressure (sanctions, blacklisting IRGC, etc) and support (help find ways to provide internet access, help us find ways to fund strikes by using the frozen assets of the regime). Recently, an opposition council was formed for the first time in history. We urge officials to talk to them instead of these people who do not represent us.

In the personal meeting your FM had, the regime reported [this](https://en.mfa.ir/portal/newsview/712515/Iranian-FM-meets-with-Norwegian-counterpart-in-Geneva): *”Amirabdollahian appreciated political consultations between the two countries and welcomed the Norwegian side’s willingness to continue the talks. The Iranian foreign minister also criticized the unconstructive position and miscalculations of a specific number of European countries regarding the recent riots in Iran as well as the wrong stance of the Norwegian parliament speaker. He said, “We believe that dialogue can resolve misunderstandings.” Amirabdollahian, in other comments, outlined Iran’s views about the Ukraine crisis, saying, “While we oppose efforts to expand NATO, we are also against the war in Ukraine and support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.”*

In this meeting they were allowed to freely spread their propaganda about our protests, about the stance of the countries who support us and about their support for Russia’s war. In short: the meeting was useless and your FM has been used as a tool for their propaganda machine.

This regime is no better than Isis or Taliban and we urge the world to treat them as such.

Thank you for your attention and we hope you can empathize with our situation and perhaps contact your representatives if you have the time to do so.

  2. Since the Norwegian government categorically don’t want to say if they voted for Iran to get into the Human Rights Council I for one assume they voted for them. Probably some kind of tradeoff for votes to another council.

  3. Well there is a legitimate reason, it’s called caring about the human rights of other humans in other places 😂

  4. I am so sorry, and I am angry that she did this. She also invited the Taliban regime here last year to talk, which of course was presented by them as an acceptance of their regime and used as good pr for them. This is just as bad. I think her intentions are good, as she definitely is on your side in this, as we all are. But this…. This is short-sighted and stupid. I will not vote for her party.
    My heart is with you.

  5. One of the topics she talked about in the meeting was Norways concern for human rights abuse, womens rights and executioons of protestors/demonstrators.

Not sure what you expect to happen if the rest of the world ignores it, instead of being in dialouge with those that have done you wrong.

  6. شما دوست من! زن، زندگی، آزادی!

It pains me to see this, as my so is Iranian, making this fight close to my heart. I truly hope you win the fight and I had hoped our politicians would support the people and not the violent regime.

  7. Norwegians not understanding the meaning of a dead-end in dialogue is heartbreaking. It is such a naive point of view of the world.

  8. Oh god, she literally makes me ashamed of being Norwegian. Literally the d*** and most naiv person in the parlament. watch this https://youtu.be/_hBKJV7Q8SQ

Well, I’m greatful she is AP, she causing so much harm to her own party and AP most likely wont win any elevtion for a while. it’s predicted that they have lost half of their votes so far, in combination with multiple more bad things

  9. All the Norwegians I know wholeheartedly support our thing OP. Most Norwegians I know don’t really like their government either so it’s not nice to point the finger at them per se. Yeah it’s weird that the bastion for democracy engages in dialogue with the biggest despots in the world that’s undeniable but you need to remember that the average run of the mill Norwegian politician is… an odd creature.

  10. If it helps, no one likes nor wants that cunt to represent us. It’s a democracy, and obviously rich people manipulated it as if it’s the way of the world. So we’re stuck with it. Fuck that shit tho. Shame, shame, shame. The way of the sickly rich is not the way of the world. Fuck y’all and choke on some caviar.

  11. Remember when they paid 7 million kroner of tax payers money for the Taliban to come to Norway on holiday with a private jet so they wouldn’t be arrested on their trip because a couple of them were on the FBI most wanted list? One of them was even involved in killing a norwegian journalist in a terror attack in Kabul
