China ‘targeting Commonwealth nations neglected by Britain’

  1. So the UK spends its life being a shit friend/owner whatever and then someone else comes along and offers them a “better” deal and suddenly we care.

Nation of bullies really aren’t we

(I’m aware it’s China and wider implications, but just look how this looks….)

Explain why I’m wrong, don’t just downvote

  2. Good

I don’t belive in the commonwealth

If I had my way Britain would have no diplomatic relations with anyone outside of Europe

There’s no need for us to be in a relationship with Australia or India

They have done nothing for today’s British people so why should I want to give them money

  3. Look at it from the 3rd world perspective. China give them infrastructure and roads. The west pillages their resources and tells them they’re better off. Is it any wonder they gravitate to China?

  4. We have had weakened ties with the commonwealth since we joined the ecc in the 70s. Preference trade disappeared and British presence in commonwealth countries vanished.

  5. Not entirely true, yes Britain exported a lot of goods to these countries for financial gain but also helped with infrastructure, building roads, power stations etc.

  6. UK intervenes and starts pumping money into third world nations and be called neo imperialists

UK doesn’t do that and be called uncaring cruel little englanders.

    Can’t win.

  7. Okay. And why should we care? The Commonwealth is meaningless. I feel no kinship with Australia, India, Canada, Fiji, Barbados or any of the other assortment of arbitrary random nations in this meaningless organisation. It makes much more sense to prioritise our relationship with the EU than to try to fiddle around with random distant countries that don’t really have much to offer. In some cases, they even steal our national symbols like in the case of Australia with their flag.
