I know that Japan is selling [canned air](https://sea.mashable.com/article/3472/for-only-us960-you-can-buy-a-canned-air-of-japans-outgoing-heisei-era) for ¥1080 \[81.60 kr\] but there are scalpers on Mercari that actually price gouge it at ¥22000+ \[1662.45 kr +\] just for literal air, they say it’s gathered from the Heisei era as it is currently Reiwa since Naruhito ascended the throne since 2019. Yet there’s even a stall for canisters of air from the Heisei period for at least ¥1688 \[127.55 kr\]
This applies to canned air literally collected from last year in 2022, like to be honest the air we breathe is not any different since then, yet in Japan people are still making profit for a plastic shopping bag or a can then writing stuff like 2022年の空気 \[*Luften i 2022*\] indicating it’s air that’s just collected 2-3 months ago. It’s completely normal in Japan as they did the same with collecting air from 2019 (not 2020 due to COVID) or 2021 as well as recently in 2022, it’s kind like a strange tradition for the new year as thats the time these listings appear.
I’ve found another [listing](https://jp.mercari.com/item/m41737343050) on Mercari that has a literal bag of air from the end of march last year, slapped a price tag of ¥2328 \[175.90 kr\] but all it is a empty bag with air that is 1 year old. By the way there is also air collected from [BTS](https://jp.mercari.com/item/m11094814459) priced at ¥30055 \[2271.10 kr\] This subject matter is mentioned in this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMwJYQpwkwM) and more info from this [article](https://japantoday.com/category/features/lifestyle/air-from-2022-for-sale-on-japanese-flea-market-app-mercari).

I really hope we’re not that stupid.
I mean there are morons everywhere, but canned air? I will never understand Japan
No, it will never be profitable in Norway.
Norway has the cleanest air in Europe.
Why would anyone buy air?
Lots of idiots in Norway. But not that type of idiots. Doubt it will work.
We’re breathing the same air as was here millions of years ago, so I don’t understand what the big deal is for people buying this.
Selling canned Norwegian air to Americans would probably work, they already buy our tap water.
A Japanese tradition of breathing air from the past at New Year celebrations make a strange moronic sense, not the least as conspicious consumption, but not even being considered as possible part of Norwegian New Year celebration, it is an idiocy which lacks the pre primed idiots, and an enterprise considerably less likely to fly than a lead ballon [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZSkM-QEeUg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZSkM-QEeUg)
Well, if you can sell sand in Sahara or sea-water in the Atlantic, you can sell air in Norway.
But if you have that sales-talent, then surely something a bit easier to sell would be more profitable.
Selling air to Norwegians probably wouldn’t work, selling Norwegian air to the Japanese might.
I am pretty sure that this can be sold in Norway. But please keep in mind: The price has to be high for Norwegian customers. They are used to paying more and it gives them a good feeling.
