A knife, a strong knife, you use like you’d use a knife.
A puukko is also a good pastime tool when you are in the woods. Together with your fellow comrades you can carve “leirikyrpä” aka “camp dick” from wood and the one who makes the best dick wins a prize. Very popular game
Also used in traditional Finnish game, called puukkohippa – knifetag.
One has puukko and chases others trying to stab them.

Sturdy low cost knife that is often brutally used in purposes that knife is not meant to be used, lever, wedge, opening screws, etc… imagination is your limit.
Generally cheap to replace if broken.
There are several things wrong with this video.
– The knife he is wearing is not a puukko at all but a Yakut knife. The blade geometry is entirely different to Finnish puukko knives.
-Whether you wear a puukko on your left, right or on your front is not tied to your dominant hand but a matter of preference. What matters is the blade orientation in relation to your dominant hand. A right handed sheath will hold the blade the right way round irregardless of which side the knife is worn on.
-The soldiers he is teaching are scraping with the blade perpendicular to the wood. This is a great way to dull the blade. You should use the spine of the blade instead.
