DUP has ‘concerns’ about new deal – Donaldson

  1. I can understand their whole “We are British and we want to have the same Brexit as the rest of the UK”. Except they just want the same laws when it suits them. Gay Marriage and abortion are just two examples of this.

The North of Ireland is in a great place, they have their Brexit to save face but have access to the single market which is saving the North from any Brexit related trading difficulties. Economically this could be massive.

Unfortunately until the people of the north start voting based on policy and not along green and orange lines this will continue.

  2. The DUP would agree with any protocol if it contained a stipulation that Sinn Fein can not have a first minister in place. No treaty or protocol will work as long as democratic politics are a possibility.

  3. The Protocol will prove an Achilles heel for Ireland. NI will be an obvious better location for manufacturing. Green lane smuggling is already being flagged by transport people. Ireland has used up enormous credit with the EU. All in pursuit of a unity that is already being presented as concessions to unionism. Our political class have lost the run of themselves.

  4. They’ll keep objecting so long as the Tories keep pandering to them. DUP won’t be happy so long as nationalists have to be included in stormont break.

  5. Ulster still says no – they just want to avoid being in govt where they have to make decisions that affect people who may or may not vote for them again. The against everything has worked for them for centuries
