Funny mistake: Moldova is pictured as part of the EU in this graphic novel.

  1. It gets worse the more you look, Slovenia has migrated north and lost it’s coast, Netherlands has been crushed, Andorra has been eaten and so on.

  2. And even the text is problematic.

Before WWI these countries had rapidly growing populations and not much of yield increase in agriculture. Supplying their populations was an ever increasing burden, most people back then lived in poverty compared to us.

The revolutionary development of agriculture gave us the unusually peaceful postwar period, where growing populations could be fed without increasing the land used.

We have been playing a very dangerous game in the last twenty years, the development of agriculture was artificially inhibited. However as all European countries hava a rapidly ageing and dwindling population, this did not lead to a war, as our population was not growing.

  3. Apparently Croatia conquered Slovenia and forced them north.

They also filled in the sea, since there’s no Istria anywhere.

  4. As a Slovene I am in a moral dilemma about this map.

    * Italy has obviously been given half the nation as it did during the invasion in WW2.
    * On the other hand, Hungarian border has been pushed away and is no longer our neighbour.
