I know that Japan is selling [canned air](https://sea.mashable.com/article/3472/for-only-us960-you-can-buy-a-canned-air-of-japans-outgoing-heisei-era) for ¥1080 \[7,47€\] but there are scalpers on Mercari that actually price gouge it at ¥22000+ \[152€ +\] just for literal air, for example, there is air collected from one of the [BTS](https://jp.mercari.com/item/m11094814459) band members from a concert held 5-6 years ago priced at ¥30055 \[207,14€\], They say it’s gathered from the Heisei era as it is currently Reiwa since Naruhito ascended the throne since 2019. Yet there’s even a stall for canisters of air from the Heisei period for at least ¥1688 \[11,63€\]
This applies to canned air literally collected from last year in 2022, like to be honest the air we breathe is not any different since then, yet in Japan people are still making a profit from a plastic shopping bag or a can than writing stuff like 2022年の空気 \[*Gaisa telpa 2022. gadā.*\] indicating it’s the air that was just collected 2-3 months ago. It’s completely normal in Japan as they did the same with collecting air from 2019 (not 2020 due to COVID) or 2021 as well as recently in 2022, it’s kinda like a strange tradition for the new year as that’s the time these listings appear.
I’ve found another [listing](https://jp.mercari.com/item/m41737343050) on Mercari that has a literal bag of air from the end of march last year, slapped a price tag of ¥2328 \[16,10€\] but all it is an empty bag with air that is 1 year old. This subject matter is mentioned in this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMwJYQpwkwM) and more info is from this [article](https://japantoday.com/category/features/lifestyle/air-from-2022-for-sale-on-japanese-flea-market-app-mercari).

Yeah, no, I doubt anyone with half a brain would buy canned air here.
We have a fair share of stupid people in Latvia, but I highly doubt that even then there would be many people that would be interested in buying bagged air.
No, we’re not retarded. Btw I like how 7,47€ supposedly is a fair price for air, but 152€ is price gouging.
If it was canned air with some esoteric connotations, some might want it.
Ppl bought smart water before so all of these scams are about marketing 🤷prepare for a potential lawsuit from consumer protection agency though
If it worked in Japan, chances are it won’t work anywhere else 🤣 definitely not in Latvia
Another bot…posting same question in a bunch of subs, then never even returns. Stop feeding the troll. It’s the same idiot who asked if people would eat horse meat.
People buy Japanese air because it’s kawaii and weebs (like OP, judging from the username) can say “omg I have something from Japan” when they will never be able to go there. It’s stupid.
Latvia is so cheap and accessible, it’s nobody’s dream destination, they can just come here and get the air for free. There is no demand for this.
I love capitalism!
Plus, I better die before buying canned air
Yea.. we have market for memory water, so yes, we need canned air.
Im sure we have enough dumb people who bought memory water or believe in chakra, planet influence etc.
But for air you need to add some magic property.
Like anti 5g air or air from Jupiter.
But at this point its scam.

I think bagged air market is quite saturated. We are receiving considerable amount of product from CN, as packing material. Hope this helps…
Yes there is quite a big market actually. Last year Egils Vindaucis (The enterpreteur who created a fart selling business) won the national business award.
So perhaps if you advertise to the right audience you could make millions.
P.s. Latvians love stuff like this. (There is a reason Latvia’s called “the Japan” of europe)
I’m sure you can find some people in Latvia with such mental issues, that would make them willing to buy canned air like you described. But taking advantage of those people would be a dick move to say the least.
It’s profitable everywhere where you can find idiots.
