Which supermarkets do you visit? Which are best and worst in terms of price and quality?

  1. Bazaar has the lowest prices in my area.
    AB is the most expensive but in my opinion has the best quality

  2. Honestly, for fruit, veggies and fish, don’t go to a store. Find your local farmer’s market (λαϊκή αγορά) and get them there. Cheaper and best quality.

  3. OK Markets ’cause they stay open till 11pm, Monday-Sunday.

    Masoutis is my 1st choice when I’m looking for special offers etc.

  4. LIDL usually (best value, and usually the best fruits and vegetables), AB-Sklavenitis sometimes since they are closer to my house, and MyMarket for some niche items the rest don’t have

  5. I usually buy from Sklavenitis. I think it’s the equilibrium between quality and price.

    Tbh, I also support Sklavenitis for their work ethics. Management treat employees with respect in comparison with other chain stores.

  6. The 3 nearest SM to me are Elomas, Sklavenitis and Masoutis, sorted by distance. The Elomas one is expensive, but very close to home so when I need something urgently I go there. It’s probably expensive because of the way the franchises work. Their stock is average. Nothing premium. Sklavenitis is very good. Cheaper and average quality. But very recently I realized that Masoutis is the cheapest of the 3 so I’m planning to go more often.

  7. For a better choice, but pricier with standard items, Thanopoulos. There is a store by the Kifissia metro station. Not quite like the big Waitrose, but the closest you can get to that in Athens, as far as I know. You get some international brands that you don’t find elsewhere. Especially in the festive season, a choice of chocolate, pannetone, German traditional baked goods, candy.

    You can get M&S food, if you miss it, in Ermou street and Spata open air mall.

  8. * Lidl if you’re buying a lot
    * Masoutis for everyday shopping and discounts (get the loyalty card)
    * Farmer’s markets for fruits/vegetables/fish
    * Butcher for meat

    Plan in advance, 24-hour or sunday stores count on that to sell you the same shit at double price. Pay by bank card for taxes.

  9. The ones that happen to be closer to my house. Κρητικός, Synka, Market In. The same more or less in prices and quality.

    Σκλαβενίτης, Βασιλόπουλος generally a bit better/pricier.

  10. Lidl for when you want to buy stuff in bulk
    Γαλαξίας when I’m on my city of residence because, as mentioned, it sells local products and has very decent prices
    Μασούτης is my go to usually because it has variety and also good butchers

  11. Sklavenitis for a once-in-a-while big shop,My Market more often as it’s closer to where I live. Both have discounted options regularly especially in personal hygiene products,but on meats,lunch meats and cheeses,Sklavenitis has a way bigger variety and more consumption,so at least to me these products always seem fresher.

  12. ΣΚΛΑΒΕΝΙΤΗΣ has very good quality and price but not variety

    AB is expensive but has a lot of variety and qualty

    μασούτης has high prices and sometimes its not very clean (at least in my area)
