Holy fuck. Akşener just invited Imamoglu(Istanbul Mayor) and Yavas(Ankara Mayor) to be the candidate as its what people wants. If any of the 2 accepts, Kılıçdaroglu and Erdogan are fucked as they can easily win the election, if not the people are fucked.
I’m just gonna go buy a rope
Thanks to Kılıçdaroğlu’s greed…
Buckle up, this is going to be a wild ride
Chosing Kilicdaroglu is the greatest gift Erdogan could have gotten.
Here we go. Our elections has been officially started.
Every poll about presidential elections show Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu gets more votes than Erdoğan easily. Nobody wants Kılıçdaroğlu to be the candidate, yet he pushed the opposition to make him so. It’s now up to Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu to make their statements.
One thing is for sure though, everybody who plans to vote for the opposition won’t vote for Erdoğan no matter what.
Let’s Gooooo!
Today may be Turkey’s most stressful political day. The leader of the main opposition party (Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu) stubbornly wants to run for President, but even a large part of the opposition does not support him.
Knowing this, her ally Meral Akşener insisted that he should not be a candidate. When he stubbornly stated that he would be a candidate, she broke the alliance. Now she is calling the mayors of Istanbul and Ankara to stand as candidates (who are also from the main opposition party). It’s chaos right now.
As a third way, Meral Akşener (Good Party), Muharrem İnce (Homeland Party) and Ümit Özdağ (Victory Party) can cooperate. But this makes Turkey’s most extreme right-wing alliance. They are literally ultranationalists.
**NOTE:** Many Europeans see Erdogan as a nationalist and religious and thinks that the opposition is like Pro-European. This is a big mistake. Erdogan is just religious. But the main nationalist segment is the opposition. You still have not witnessed a nationalist Turkey. For this reason, the separation of Meral Akşener is a big problem.
crazy things are happening lollll, she’s actually 100% right as the two mayors would have more than 99% chance to win, whereas for kilicdaroglu thats not really the case, but after the earthquake the timing is not so good lol
This is what happens when you put your personal ambitions before the nation’s preferences. People want to see Ankara or Istanbul mayors as candidates.
Will this be enough to lose the opposition the lead?
Surely this is nothing compared to the earthquake related popularity loss faces by Erdogan
Ok How do i refuge to the UK
I called this would happen all the way from the start, and this sub just called me an AKP propaganda spreader and whatsoever. It was just clear. These parties are a lot more different from one another then most people think. Their only common goal of not letting Erdoğan win the next election was what made them team up in the first place, but other then that, they’re still competitors of one another.
Although I detest her, she did the right thing. If they can come up with a decent candidate it’s wide open.
KK can’t draw votes from AKP-MHP. His candidacy was brain dead and people were protesting against possible candidacy of KK for months. This decision is a big gamble on IYIp’s part regardless. The most stormy part of our near history is ahead.
A 75-year-old pseudo-democrat who is actually a little dictator wanted to be the candidate after losing the elections against Erdoğan 9 times. He is the one with the least chance to win but still keeps insisting. As a foreigner living in Turkey, I feel so sorry for the young people there. They just don’t deserve these fucks as leaders.
Kılıçdaroğlu is not very popular, but assuming he can secure at least tacit HDP support, he is likely to beat any candidate Akşener puts forward in the first round. Especially as the mayors of Istanbul and Ankara, whom Akşener called upon directly to run against Kılıçdaroğlu, were on the record several times saying they won’t disobey their party. I don’t see how this doesn’t explode in IYI Party’s face, to be honest.
Like it or not this marks the victory for erdogan
Believing in a koalition consisting of 6 parties is utopian. I have no idea what the aftermath is going to be, but if they needed so much time just to agree on the presidential elect, imagine how long they would take to unify on other more important matters. Turkish politicians forming a coalition is so new, trying to form one with 6(!) parties is just insane.
Erdogan will win. Dictators never give up power voluntarily.
The fact that even during Erdogans islamistic, nationalistic and autoritarian regime, there is still a “right wing opposition” gives me the chills.
Imagine Adolf Hitler being afraid to lose the next election to the “extremists”…
as a Turk who supports the opposition, we’re probably done for. unfortunately, it’s all going as planned for Erdoğan.
Insane how people are blaming Kılıçdaroğlu for this, holy shit. She decides to make backhanded remarks towards the alliance and literally makes a speech trying to separate it when there are just a few months left until the presidential election. How quickly have people forgotten about the earthquake and the price increases every other day. Nationalism is the biggest plague that infests Turkey today and this whole situation(along with the existence of the meme candidates İnce and Özdağ) proves this claim

RIP. I guess Sultan Erdogan will rule for life.
