To say peace is nice, is quite the understatement of the last year.
However let’s not be naive: Putin lashes out to his neighbors, trying to reconstruct the USSR empire. Trying to negotiate for peace and giving him what he wants, will lead to Russia attacking another country or even Ukraine again within a couple of years.
Better put our foot down. Help Ukraine with their stand against Russia. There can be no peace as long as Putin remains in power.
Time to split Russia up
Peace? There will be no peace! This is where the Russian army gets destroyed, after that the Russian state hopefully will collapse and fall apart, then there will be peace.
I always find it weird how these people think peace can only be achieved by Ukraine giving up it’s territories.
I don’t think this is some secret tankie protest that claims to be for peace but is actually pro-Russia, but they’re incredible naive regardless.
How does victory look for Ucraine:
Regain all the territory or as much as possible, and join EU. Nato?
However regaining the **full** teritory means they neet to march intto Moscow / Putin’s residence for the surrender. There is the nuke question as well.
How does victory look for Russia:
Keep **Crimea (for sure, due to strategic sea port Sevastopol),** Donbass? Luhanks? and **destroy** as much Ukraine they can. They are fighting a war of attrition in Ukraine.
So it’s complicated both sides will want to win as much as possible on the battle lines before going to negociations. At the moment their negociating positions are way too far from eachother, so peace will not happen unless something big happens in the war.
In the short term, peace isn’t possible without an escalation of the conflict.
Russia would demand recognition of the annexation of parts of Ukraine, even though they don’t control all the territory the annexed. Giving up that territory would be like giving up parts of Russia. He essentially forced the Russian leadership and society to be all in. Putin made peace impossible without victory.
Ukraine will never accept losing parts of its territory, including the parts Russia occupied and annexed since 2014. Why would they accept a Russian victory? Why would they let them win?
So, either Ukraine, with the help of European and American allies, forces Russia to withdraw. Or Russia forces Ukraine to accept losing parts of it territory.
Both situations would need a major military offense that would cost the lives of thousands. Both situations require one side to be the major loser of this war.
The only option for a peace without a major military victory for one side, is a coup. A change in leadership on either side could make that side accept the loss and blame it on the previous (deposed) leadership. In Ukraine, that isn’t really possible. At this phase in the war, Ukrainians will not accept a new leadership that gives in to Russia, and neither will the allies of Ukraine.
Meaning that only a coup in Russia, with the replacement of Russian leadership, could lead to a peace without a massive military escalation.
Seeing anti NATO signs, yeah I’m thinking these aren’t just “some peaceminded people on the side of the people of Ukraine”
The war will end when Russia fucks off.
Ft. 0 Ukrainians.
They marched on saturday.
I fully agree that we need peace, but we need long lasting peace.
If we don’t arm Ukraine and help them drive Putin back, he’ll just continue invading former soviet countries until all of eastern Europe has been consumed. If you think that conceding part of Ukraine will keep Putin happy and end the war, you should read up on appeasement politics and how that worked out when the British tried it with hitler…
Dezelfde mensen die een extra feestdag willen om tegen het fascisme te vechten stellen voor om land af te staan aan een fascist. How ironic.
Die zemmel vlagjes gonna make Putin shiver his timbers

Nuttig…
Poetin zal hierdoor zeker stoppen.

Either Russia wins or its leadership perishes.
Sana Marin’s (prime minister of finland) response to beeing asked how this war ends seems apt : [https://twitter.com/RikhardHusu/status/1578308226709590017](https://twitter.com/RikhardHusu/status/1578308226709590017)?
