Hello! I am an international student & resident in Belgium. I recently slipped down the stairs and broke my tooth a bit. I only have travel insurance which was needed for my visa, and it is valid until August. I know, I know, why didn’t I get local health insurance? Because I am a lazy idiot and was postponing getting it for months.

Anyway, I did email my travel insurance company and I will register with a local health insurance tomorrow but until then, I need someone to calm me down and tell me that such dental care (fixing this damn tooth) is included in insurance and/or I will not have to pay like thousands to get it fixed.

Also, which dental clinics would you recommend?

My tooth looks exactly like the one in this picture.

  1. It won’t cost you thousands, even without insurance. Doesn’t your travel insurance have a hotline you can call for advice and referrals to the required care?

  2. From what I know a root canal treatment with a filling is around 300€ total for 2 separate consultations.

I guess reconstructing a tooth must be under or around the same pricing, if you don’t use a crown.

A crown on the other hand is probably somewhere around 600-900 depending on the type of crown you’d use (full porcelain, porcelain on a steel basis…)
