It’s cute that they thought Putin would have cared, had he ever seen their appeal.
As always I am surprised by the complete lack of empathy for these people who were forced from their homes on threat of violence (and social expulsion for their families) and shipped off by indifferent superiors to perish in a war that takes place half a world away.
It kinda makes sense. Apolitical people don’t know shit, think “smart people” at the top make normal decisions for them, so when they’re called to fight they go “oh well, what can we do.” Not knowing about conditions at the front (at most being told about how everything is fine), they suddenly get to the front and get confronted with reality that everything is not fine.
But still being told that the war is just and necessary, they know of only one recourse: complaining to the top. “Putin can’t be responsible for all of this, right? He’s just one man, he can’t know everything that his subordinates do or don’t do?”
And they don’t get time to realize that the war is actually bad. Boom goes the artillery shells. I kinda wish the Ukrainians had some magical dumbfuck McGuffin cannon which could sort of capture them without battle, there’d just all teleport into POW camps where they get debriefed on the true nature of what’s what. Or some telepathic bullshit thing to tell the truth to 140 million people at once
