>A whistleblower, who works for Home Office contractor Mitie, and child protection sources describe children being abducted off the street outside the hotel and bundled into cars.
Menopause… You might as well use the good old ‘hysteria’ argument because that is the level we are at at this point. A fucking disgrace.
The family knew in advance, if I am correct at least. If the family really did not want that information released them why not request it then? It was poor for the police to do so, meaning questions should rightly be asked over this disclosure, however it does appear like the family missed a vital chance to stop the police.
It is just a further sign of how big of a circus this has become. Instead of focusing on Nicola, we are focusing on the media circus surrounding it. True crime seems to have become a parasite in police investigations and it seems like this could become a worrying trend in future high profile cases. 24/7 coverage of this case needs to end, only truly major updates should be reported, and the public need to accept that they are not Miss Marple/Poirot. I question if we will ever know what happened to Nicola because of this.

Extremely poorly handled by the Lancashire police department.
I really don’t understand what’s the problem with these disclosures, since they are totally relevant to the case. This is what happens when people treat the police like their personal goon squad and start making demands into how they conduct their investigation.
They’ve got their reasons for doing what they’re doing and they shouldn’t be ordered to search every shed in a 30-mile radius.
Braverman’s actually managed to pull herself away from demonising asylum seekers and destroying the rights of people to protest peacefully??
Have the armchair detectives turned on the husband yet?
What exactly does she have to do with the case? A single missing persons case should not be in her remit
They’re trying to cover up their incompetence
Menopause and past alcohol use isn’t remotely relevant.
While Braverman is asking her, can she also ask why the SIO appeared to be such a twat to the cameras? Rude, insolent even.
It’s none of the HS’s fucking business. She knows as much about police investigations as the dog shit I trod in this morning.
The ONLY people who require an explanation are the family (assuming they didn’t OK the release) and the ICO (unless the family ok’d the release).
Everyone else needs to stay in their lane.
The media are really missing the point is THEY are the issue here when it comes to all the publicising of this
I thought the police explained themselves why they disclosed the info. It was to avoid unhelpful speculation as to what “vulnerable person” meant.
I’m curious does anyone have insight into what the benefit of releasing this info was in terms of the investigation? Only thing I can think of is it is the police trying to back up is their ‘fell/jumped into the river’ theory.
I don’t get how the police leaking her alcohol use and/or issues with menopause help anyone find her…… I’d expect this from the tabloids. The police should be above this really. Is this a sign that the police are edging towards giving up on the investigation?
Probably because they’re sick of being accused of not finding an imaginary killer when it’s just a drunk woman falling in a river
This is boring now. Aint going to find it. They should the same effort they have with her with others that go missing…
How about the media’s hand in immediately publicising the disclosure of her health issues? They had every opportunity to simply not mention it
Because someone was going to seek. It to one of the shitty papers and it would have come out anyway so they needed to get out ahead of the shits and try to control the narrative.
Well if anyone knows about data security it’s the Home Secretary who recently resigned for breaching ministerial rules after sending highly sensitive information from a personal email account.
But seriously why did they bring up her alcohol issues
This case is getting a bit insane. Sky even had a special, as well as hundreds of segments.
I have no idea why this has become such a circus.
It’s all getting a bit silly now it’s gone on long enough, people go missing everyday what is so special about her?
I don’t think the police should have mentioned her health problems. I think they only did so because their investigation was called into question. Classic victim blaming.
I don’t really get the outrage about this. The family knew the police were going to make the statement. It would be different if they didn’t.
And it’s likely they wanted to get it out there before someone else did. It’s not a shameful thing, but does help add to potential theories. It doesn’t mean it was the factor, but it’s also an important piece of information to keep in mind.

Braverman is a fucking nobhead. Always has been, always will be.
We have 222 missing children recently snatched in Brighton and yet this one middle aged woman is all the press seems to care about.
