Was remembering the Quinnsworth Computers for Schools promotion. I remember our primary school going on a big campaign to gather receipts. In the end, we got two PCs which were the first computers I ever saw in a classroom.
Anyone else remember this?
Add below from the time showing, “Quinnsworth IBM Computers for Schools ad with Maurice Pratt. From Irish TV circa 1991/1992. **Poor sound quality.** From a Betamax recording.”

Tesco gave out little (green?) CfS coupons in the late 90s/early 00s. Our principal would drill it into us at assembly to tell our mammies to do the big shop at Tesco. So manipulative but it still goes on, Aldi and PE equipment at the moment.
In 1987 our school won an Apple II following a similar promotion – it was wheeled around all the classrooms to show it off befoe being handed to the secretary and that was the last we ever saw of it.
Yup, I was volunteered to stand in a Quinnsworth for a few hours to collect till receipts for our school. Not sure we got one in the end at all.
Quinnsworth used to have the best make your own pizzas too. god be with the days. Pizzas in this country never really recovered.

Even in 1991/92 the Betamax format was considered hopelessly obsolete.
Great memories…
Barcode Battlers was the next big yoke.
Was that enoch burke playing a teacher?
That’s what it was. I was raking my brain a couple of days ago, trying to remember why they made us stand outside of supermarkets collecting recipes during the a summer back then.
I was thinking if was there some sort of ulterior motives why a supermarket would want people to give away their receipt for some reason.
Oh! Our school definitely did not get any of these computers.
Dya member Barcode Battlers? Dey were fuckin stewpeh
I vaguely remember BBC Micro computers, that’s all we got.
The teachers hadn’t a clue how they worked or what we were supposed to do with them for a precious 30 mins a week.
Whisked back to getting physically assaulted in PE class afterwards, oh those were the days!
Wow that brings me back alright.
Remember collecting the receipts.
Wasn’t there some scandal with that guy?
I went to a big primary school and we nearly filled a small classroom with computers from this. Lads used to go round to the elderly neighbours and collect the vouchers from them. One lad used come in with envelopes stuffed with them, I think someone he knew worked in tesco!
