Red wall voters are socially conservative, even if it doesn’t make them vote Tory it might be enough for them not to vote Labour.
It might shore up their poll ratings, and possibly drag some of their better off voters back, but it really isn’t going to do much to get them anywhere near Labour.
Polling says that the vast majority of people aren’t paying much attention to the issue which makes campaigning on it difficult.
Politically it will be difficult as Labour can bat it back with much more pertinent issues to the public like health and education.
Anecdotally, I have spoken to about 500 people since November across Red Wall and Blue wall seats and I can count the number of times it has come up on one hand.
Ask the Australian right how this tactic worked out for them?

We’ve already seen death as a result of this regressive agenda being pushed and they see it as an opportunity. This is fascism being pushed into the mainstream.
The right of people to exist isn’t up for debate. Replace Trans people with Black people or Jewish people or any other minority that has been persecuted and you’d see how horrifying and ridiculous this debate is.

Then there’s another big group of voters that we ignore that tend to be socially conservative, the Muslim vote (the green wall I suppose). This is one that might worry Labour even more as [72% of Muslims](https://www.survation.com/british-muslims-retain-strong-link-to-labour-but-leadership-ratings-lag-those-of-the-party/) (in 2021) would support Labour, and if the Tories could stop them voting Labour it could really hurt.
