  1. Ireland has some promising sprinters coming through the ranks as of late. Athletics will be a lot more exciting to watch in the coming years. There hasn’t been excitement since Sonia O’Sullivan’s glory days.

  2. Breaking her own Irish record is nice and all, but these are two far more noteworthy achievements from her in the same race.

    > Adeleke’s time is **the second fastest in the world this year** – behind only Femke Bol’s world record of 49.26. It is also **an NCAA record,** and moves the 20-year-old up to 13th on the world indoor all-time list.

  3. Incredible.

Remember reading about her in Irish Runner magazine when she was 14/15 and they were tipping her as one to watch.

  4. Wow she should be able to smash the Irish 800m record too.

Very soft at 2:00.58 in my opinion.

    I could run a 1:59.8 but couldn’t do a 400m quicker than 55.6 and usually ran 56-something

Someone who can do 50.33 in 400m is probably at least a 1:56/57 with bad endurance

That would also put her in with a shot at Olympic 400/800m double

    For context women’s National 800m records : Denmark (2:00.97), NZ (1:58.25), AUS (1:58.09), UK (1:57.20), Canada (1:57.01), Croatia (1:56.51)

  5. How many times has she broken this record now? This has to be like the third. Which really just goes to show that any time you think she’s done it all, she goes yet another step further. I can already picture her on the tracks in Paris and LA!
